Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 So pumped for Monday's game! This was the longest and most boring offseason
Doc Verified Member Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Grandy is wishing he was in Yankee stadium for that one. You know the more I think about it we have a good team it just depends if everything pans out.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 I am perfectly fine with him as a loogy when you got guys like Delabar, Santos, Cecil, Jansen, that can get everyone else out. Need a guy to dominate lefties
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Look at the numbers he should be a loogy only. Gibbons started to use him as a loogy only mid way last year. Handedness K/9 BB/9 K/BB HR/9 K% BB% AVG WHIP BABIP LOB% FIP xFIP 2013 vs L 5.46 1.93 2.83 0.00 15.0 % 5.3 % .198 - - - .238 75.0 % 3.12 3.41 2013 vs R 7.84 1.52 5.14 1.09 21.3 % 4.1 % .286 - - - .342 83.0 % 3.46 3.24 Advanced stats disagree with you, he actually struck out and walked less vs RHH, had a much higher BABIP, and lower xFIP.

The .OPS of Righties against him is just slightly above league average. He's not bad against righties by any stretch of the imagination....but he's devastating against lefties.
bzapple Verified Member Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Not sure why Lawrie was so eager to swing against a bad control pitcher like Valverde.
bzapple Verified Member Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Wow, over 50,000. That's amazing.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 The Jays should consider taking one or two series during the year that are usually poorly attended and move those games to Montreal. Improve attendance a bit and get more people in Montreal excited about the Jays.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 I love how they've brought in Sanchez and Stroman to get them a feel for the big crowds and feel of a major league game. That should pay huge dividends when they do come up.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 It's real nice getting the youngin's exposed in a MLB stadium with MLB crowds. It'll surely help when they make their debuts. edit: abom read my mind.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 If they do that, they should do it vs. the Rays, Royals or A's.

Improve attendance a bit and get more people in Montreal excited about the Jays. Good idea. Would increase the teams exposure and could potentially increase attendance at the Rogers Centre as well if more people from Montreal start following the team and decide to make trips to Toronto. Not to mention TV viewership. If they want o promote this team as Canada's team then they need to reach out to all the big Canadian markets.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Goins is terrible O/U on how long he lasts?
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2014 Author Posted March 29, 2014 MELKY MAN!!!! wooooooooo!
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Goins is terrible O/U on how long he lasts? Because he struck out on a full count with the runner on the move? What about his other AB's today? I guess Lawrie sucks also for GIDP on a first pitch following a walk?
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 melk man, bautista, hutch and now morrow finally....starting to get pumped for the season!
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 should they try to extend melky this year?
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Because he struck out on a full count with the runner on the move? What about his other AB's today? I guess Lawrie sucks also for GIDP on a first pitch following a walk? The pitch he swung at was waaaay out of the zone.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 No from his full body of work he sucks. He is a fringe player at best getting regular at-bats. I think this has been established and talked about, holy f***. Go f***ing brake down AA's door and demand why he didn't upgrade this winter, otherwise STFU and lets see what Goins will bring.
Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Sanchez FB has filthy movement. He has top line stuff. Just gotta put it all together.
Horses Fart Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 2 game sweep in MTL.....Hats off to the MTL crowd for showing up!
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Ump kinda helped there but oh well, Sanchez gives no f***s.
Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Gift call there, but I like what I see from AS
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 The pitch he swung at was waaaay out of the zone. Yes but the runner was on the move and he felt compelled to swing at anything remotely close. He's played a handful of games in the bigs so far. Polished hitters would have taken that pitch for a walk but the kid is still raw.
