There was an interview article with Walt Jocketty after the Reds inked him. It sounds like the Reds were quiet on pursuing him, but had built up a pretty good rapport over a lengthy time scouting him.

Actually Gose, Nay, Tirado and Sierra is what I heard and why AA backed off. Also rumored that AA wanted a deal that included Barney with Shark but who knows?
