kgm1 Verified Member Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 The first half isn't great, really picks up the second half. Definitely picked up but all the hype had me thinking this was going to be a great flick and it wasn't .
kgm1 Verified Member Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Beeston on Rogers support: When we need to go in the inetrnational market to sign a player. They signed off on (Aroldis) Chapman, OK. It was us that made the decision not to get Chapman. We didn't see him well in a workout, but they signed off on Chapman. They dropped out of the bidding finally but they were the #2 team , Cincy just went a lot higher

And for the record, I really thought JJ was gonna be a monster with the Jays. Happ was the one who puzzled me. AA had been coveting him for quite some time. Why? Beats me.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Definitely picked up but all the hype had me thinking this was going to be a great flick and it wasn't . Bale and Jennifer Lawrence were both brilliant, the scenes without them were substandard.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 So why would a dumb organization pursue a guy with a 4.34 ERA?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 21, 2014 Author Posted March 21, 2014 So why would a dumb organization pursue a guy with a 4.34 ERA? And an 8-14 W L record Cause Over 9K/9 IP and GB rate 48% Like like like

GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 You're right Though this IS the team that had the money set aside yet declined to sign Aroldis Chapman after watching one bullpen session Could've sworn we were the runner up?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 21, 2014 Author Posted March 21, 2014 Could've sworn we were the runner up? Yeah I've already been proven incorrect a few posts back. I misunderstood a Beeston comment.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Oh was that the deal? I must have mis interpreted a Beeston quote on the subject. Besides topics Beeston's an expert on...scheduling bobble head days and thinking of ideas to coerce casual fans into buying more tickets, don't listen to anything this f***ing piece of s*** says.

There was an interview article with Walt Jocketty after the Reds inked him. It sounds like the Reds were quiet on pursuing him, but had built up a pretty good rapport over a lengthy time scouting him.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Bale and Jennifer Lawrence were both brilliant, the scenes without them were substandard. They were talking about Trouble with the Curve, not American Hustle. As for American Hustle, I thought Bradley Cooper was the star of the film. Bale was good too but Lawrence was meh in my opinion. Amy Adams was bad... i'm not sure how she got nominated for an oscar. She was nice to look at though.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 You nailed it. It's unwatchable. I watched twice and I enjoyed it haha. I'll watch anything with crazy clint in it. One of the greats

Wolf of wallstreet is easily my favourite movie of the year tho

Wolf of wallstreet is easily my favourite movie of the year tho I was specifically talking about the movie American Hustle. Cooper was better than Bale in my opinion. You should check out what Matthew Mcconaughey has been doing recently. Specifically the show True Detective. Its brilliant.
GNick Verified Member Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I would pass on Shark. Players we acquired for NL haven't met expectations recently....Dickey, Burnett, Johnson, Happ. Chances are he won't be much in AL East.

What does our other NL acquisitions under performing have to do with Shark exactly? There's reasons to not make the deal but that one is pretty ludicrous.

Yeah I've seen everything except magic mike that mcconaughey was in and that was an omission on my part

Pretty sure the Marketing Department handles that stuff. Beeston's job is to collect a paycheque whilst making condescending comments to the media occasionally.
KSaw Verified Member Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Shark screams breakout all-star. Love him. Question is whether he's worth Gose, Nay and Tirado.
KSaw Verified Member Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Actually Gose, Nay, Tirado and Sierra is what I heard and why AA backed off. Also rumored that AA wanted a deal that included Barney with Shark but who knows? Rumors seemed to be close to an actual deal that would get made a few years ago. Now they are often crap leaked by agents or a club staffer or even some idiot new reporter throwing darts onto Twitter.
Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Shark screams breakout all-star. Love him. Question is whether he's worth Gose, Nay and Tirado. I'd do it. We keep our 2 best arms in the farm, Nay/Tirado are just so far away and likely turn out to be nothing, and I still think Gose is a bust because I just don't see him hitting at an acceptable rate. Shark would look nice in this rotation right now too (preferably with an extension).

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 21, 2014 Author Posted March 21, 2014 Just looked on Cot's. If I'm reading it correctly he is signed for this year and should be under control via arbitration for 2015 as well. seem right??
