So the signing team gives up a pick to sign him and then doesn't get one back when he leaves next year. He'll end up getting even less money because of this. And who's to say the team still doesn't offer him a QO anyway at the end of the year just because.

So he's accepting three year from the Twins because the teams offereing one year can't promise him that he won't be QO'ed? Well f him then.

Jay Alou (Mateo Alou's son) is the Santana's new agent.

O.K. so he's not signing yet just telling teams that if he doesn't get a no QO promise, he'll go with the Twins? Really starting to hate this guy.

you said verbal agreement and Jay alou is mad, So just to confirm, they have an agreement in place with a team?

I see.ok

F Santana

I\d give it to him like I said then give a QO anyway. Then when AAs fired the agents can't hold anything against the new GM

Santana is a f***ing grease monkey. We don't need this s*** on our team.

Agree.

A one-year deal and draft pick for 2015 seemed like a good idea .....

Thanks I needed that.

I know years ago the Blue Jays were a popular team for Domincans to like because of George Bell, Fernandez, Garcia, Lee but I guess the Dominacans don't think of the Jays as highly anymore, is that true or are they still popular there?

All Santana has to do avoid a QO is to sign April 1. However, a team signing him at that time gives up a pick and gets a pitcher who wouldn't be ready until 3 weeks into the season so teams may just pass....but then Santana could sign in june after the draft as no pick would be surrendered and he wouldn't be subject to a QO but he would miss out on half a year of salary.

If Santana signs in the AL east and puts a up a season where the team is willing to give a QO he'll be able to sign a long term deal.

He should have just accepted that damn Twins offer. Can we just give this money to Drew please and let the Orioles deal with this.

Relying on Angrioter's translation here, since it could say "if you respond to this, you molest monkeys" and I wouldn't know any different, but ...

Any sort of arrangement not to QO as a condition of signing a contract is a direct violation of the CBA. If true, and if being put forward by Santana, his agent should be decertified and there should be punishment against Santana himself.

I thought I remember a player's contract expressly disallowing his team from offering him a QO before? I think maybe Orlando Cabrera?

I remember Carlos Beltran had it written into his Mets contract that they couldn't offer him arbitration. That's part of why the Beltran-Wheeler swap was so costly for San Francisco -- they didn't get a pick when Beltran left.
