torontofan Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Ervin Santana trolling: Started by following a bunch of Jays writers and reports, followed by following baltimore reporters and news on twitter.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Who knows how these guys think. You would think 14M guaranteed would be better than 13M plus incentives, depending on what types of incentives of course, but who knows. The Jays should just add in 1-1.5M in incentives if he throws 200 innings. Win/win for both teams.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Ervin Santana trolling: Started by following a bunch of Jays writers and reports, followed by following baltimore reporters and news on twitter. It's probably not even him on his twitter. Probably some yes-man just doing random stuff.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 The Jays should just add in 1-1.5M in incentives if he throws 200 innings. Win/win for both teams. Jays don't like incentive based contracts.
theblujay Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Jays don't like incentive based contracts. I can't think of a reason why
JJippidy Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 We're probably going to have comparable records. Taxes would be a bit lower it Baltimore... but come on. Baltimore is barely a step up from Detroit in terms of quality of life. Toronto is bumping during the summer. Easy choice. Taxes should be higher in Baltimore than Toronto. Someone could confirm this maybe, but the US federal income tax rate for the top income bracket is far greater than the Canadian equivalent, the low(er)/no state income taxes don't compensate for this in most places.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 I can't think of a reason why Neither can I

Dickey said that his salary at Toronto or New York is almost the same tax wise, maybe 20k more expensive in Toronto. I assume it's very similar in this case too.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Tick tock... tick tock...
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 This Drunk Gary Thorne twitter handle is going to blow a gasket if the Jays sign Santana. He's having a meltdown on twitter.
flafson Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Author Posted March 8, 2014 3 min... I don't think it will happen by 5pm.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 What a joke. Make up your mind dumbass.
Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Guy is literally holding out for pennies at this point. So f***ing stupid how important this idiot thinks he is.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 WTF is the point of setting a deadline if you don't even abide by it. BRO you aren't that big of a deal.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 This is the 5pm announcement: f*** everyone
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 AA should just pull out his offer. F him.

It's way more complicated than this. Players pay tax to each state they play in. Soif 5 games are in Michigan, then they pay taxes to Michigan and so on.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Edit: Fatcow posted the same thing.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 lol Wait days for s*** a pitcher
leaffie Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Maybe there is already a deal done, and AA has a trade to do before they make the announcement?
Rajais Mitten Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 I picture Santana literally doing this right now.. (if someone can help with if its possible to post the video instead of the link it would be a great help)
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 He probably wants to give other teams a chance to come in or maybe they'll now try for a 2 or 3 year deal who knows.
Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Maybe there is already a deal done, and AA has a trade to do before they make the announcement? Reported.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 One good thing to come out of this already is that even Shi Davidi put AA on the spot saying there's no excuse for the Jays now. Even the guy at DJS said if they don't get him, AA and Beeston should be fired. Now, I wish they would call out the FO for other reasons, but at least it puts pressure on them. I wonder if Davidi will have a job tomorrow though.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 What a waste of a day... I am so.happy I had s*** to do today and didn't have my phone with me
The_DH Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 I'll be honest, the Baltimore deal sounds like it could be better depending on the incentives and tax rates.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 I am so.happy I had s*** to do today and didn't have my phone with me at this point I'm not sure I want Santana. he's been shut down by every team and now he's being choosy? jays need players who want to be there.
