Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 @dSoldevila 1m Source: Ervin Santana has fired Bean Stringfellow as his agent
flafson Verified Member Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 I guess the fact Bautista is also his agent didn't help much... (to us)
theblujay Verified Member Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Maybe AA despaired his agent but Santana wasn't having it
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2014 Author Posted March 7, 2014 Maybe AA despaired his agent but Santana wasn't having it lol AA, do it 1x1
flafson Verified Member Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 All we need now is for Bautista to be his agent and that's it!
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Wow so it was true, Anthopoulos actually despaired the f*** out of him.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Not even Boars can help him. Morales and Drew can't get signed either. Its amazing how 3 pretty good players are still without a team. Morales is a 1 - 1.5 WAR player who turned down the QO at 14M. He's probably worth under 10M (although teams tend to pay a little more for power). Drew and Santana both seem to have some medicals that have scared everyone away. I mean heck, even the Yankees with massive holes on the infield won't touch Drew.

Yeah, it's surprising some team hasn't jumped in and signed Drew like the Orioles did with Jimenez although I think there was a report saying the Orioles were led to think that the Jays and Red Sox had made offers. The problem with both Drew and Santana is that their prices reportedly haven't come down much. There was even that rumour claiming Boras wanted an opt-out clause for Drew...that might be a fireable offense.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Wow so it was true, Anthopoulos actually despaired the f*** out of him. AA (despairing the next agent) - the last f***in guy who I negotiated with, f***in fired. Santana f***in fired him. Take this deal, 2-15, take it f***in right now. Unless you want to get your sorry ass fired.
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Looks like he's not getting 4/50 anymore. Not anywhere close. 3/30 would be my guess. Could land anywhere at that price. I could see a team like the Cubs or Mets signing him now, but the best bet would probably be the Mariners.

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 3/30 is not that far off the 3/27 despair offer that was rumoured to have been made by AA. It was probably a false report, but we'll see what Santana ends up getting.
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 The Mariners are probably the best fit for him by far. So much need. They just invested a couple of yachts on winning and this is their SP depth chart: Felix Iwakuma - hurt right now Walker - hurt right now; rookie Paxton - rookie; RP profile Ramirez - ZiPS 4.35 FIP Baker - hasn't really pitched since 2011 Maurer - probably sucks; ZiPS 4.64 FIP Beaven - absolutely sucks Noesi - absolutely sucks

Laika Community Moderator Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Y U use ZiPS for pitchers?!?!?! Because it starts with a Z and it sounds the coolest
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Ackley for Janssen + Happ please. Jack Z is pretty dumb. Not sure that dumb though.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Jack Z is pretty dumb. Not sure that dumb though. We can throw in Romero
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 players representing themselves never go well. It's like players themselves attending arbitration and having to hear why you are not worth X million.
LunchBox Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Despairing an agent named Bean Stringfellow is basically a f***ing layup. How's this guy expected to negotiate with a HappHazard name like that?

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 We need a board glossary somewhere. LOL
