Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 I've accepted it. Lets get on with the season
Convo Verified Member Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Who cares - is Ervin Santana the difference maker? We probably win just as many games with one of our rookies in the rotation.

We probably win just as many games with one of our rookies in the rotation. What pisses me off is not that we're not getting Santana - it's that AA blatantly lied to the fanbase to cover his ass. Good luck selling tickets this year, dumbass!
Smokey Verified Member Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Haven't you heard? We have enough pitching as it stands and he's not even as good as Happ... In AA we trust!
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 I don't want Santana, but losing out on Jimenez was heartbreaking.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Are we really going to rip AA for not signing Ervin Santana for 4 years 50ish million and giving up a 2nd round pick on feb 19th when he's done basically nothing else? whooo gives a f***.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 He'd certainly be better than nothing. What a joke. Yeah it's not the not getting Santana part that rubs, it's the getting nothing part. It just so happens that at this point it's Santana, Capuano or bust but it didn't have to be that way. It seems like the only pitcher AA was ever in on was Brett Anderson. Everything else was little more than a vague expression of interest, no actual pursuit.

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 If AA doesn't at least sign Capuano on a one year deal, he's f***ing retarded. Seriously, does he think we can get through the year as is? What a buffoon.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 I think this means they are happy with Stroman at the 5th spot and a competition for the 4. I really think Stroman will amaze everyone this season.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 To me it seems like AA had no money to spend. So he tried the trade route but he fell flat. You'd think with him being on the hot seat that he'd have a sense of urgency in improving the team but perhaps the trade route could have partially collapsed on him b/c of what was reported earlier in the offseason about him not having the best relationship with the other GM's of the league.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Great news............. FreeStroman
Smedley Butler Verified Member Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 I'm totally fine with this. At this point I would rage if they did sign this bum.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 I think this mrans they are happy with Stroman at the 5th spot and a competition for the 4. I really like Stroman will amaze everyone this season We all know Stroman is a special talent and will impress this spring, but if you think AA and Beeston will allow Stroman a well deserved spot in the rotation and start his MLB clock this year, you are sadly mistaken.
Smedley Butler Verified Member Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 I thought AA had properly brought Santana's agent to despair. What could have possibly went wrong? Playing an agent to despair is no easy task, however he gave it a valiant effort. O's obviously despaired them a little better than we did.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 I really hate Stroman in the 5th spot. Happ and his $5.4 million commitment are a virtual lock for the rotation, which means we still have McGowan, Redmond, and Rogers out of options and without rotation spots. If the pen has Janssen, Santos, Cecil, Delabar, and Loup, McGowan, and Rogers, we're looking at DFA'ing Jeffress and L. Perez, which isn't a big deal, but also Todd Redmond. I don't think you DFA what might be a legit back-end starter making the minimum just to get Stroman up a few weeks early. It's poor roster management. Yeah and they are going to need #6 and #7 starters (at least) anyway so Stroman likely still gets his chance while we get to keep a potential serviceable backend guy like Redmond, thus giving us more depth than just starting Stroman in the 5th spot with no Redmond at all.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Ticket prices for the first few games this year are so cheap online. Fans are revolting already.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Ticket prices for the first few games this year are so cheap online. Fans are revolting already. What? Who would sell tix under face value for the home opener weekend against the Yankees in Feb?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Exactly. Realistically, someone probably goes down before May and Stroman misses like 5 starts, at the most before joining the rotation. The difference between Redmond and Stroman over 5 starts is probably 0 wins. Redmond is a useful guy right now; he's better option that Rogers
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Also. I have s***** home opener seats if anyone wants to trade for any weekend game for decent seats? God, i hate going to the home opener. So many idiots who don't give a s*** about baseball. This is probably the worst forum to ask. lol.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 What? Who would sell tix under face value for the home opener weekend against the Yankees in Feb? Check stubhub. Prices for a Saturday game on Opening Weekend vs the Yankees starting at 19 bucks lol. A week ago they were starting at around 30$. No demand, tons of supply.

A week ago they were starting at around 30$. No demand, tons of supply. 500's are face value at 14 bucks. Obviously if there's tons of seats still available (which there are for sat and sun) no one is going to buy 30$ 500's. Maybe 19 bucks if there aisle seats in a good row and in a good section.
