jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 The school curriculum needs to start adapting with this generation of students. I find myself reading a lot of online articles than touching a book. Books are just boring to me The school curriculum needs to expand and stop forcing students to take subjects they have no interest in, such as Physics/Chem. You don't learn anything at all by being forced to something, other than of course math and grammar.

You don't have to keep on doing it. IMO they should allow a greater choice in grade 11 math. It's weird how Functions is still required to take for any student. There should be a finance-based math class where students can learn practical math if their career choice doesn't incorporate any sort of heavy math

I cant remember a single thing from gr 10 bio other than puking from the smell of the dead pig. I dont remember taking functions though so maybe thats new.

Functions isn't really "heavy math," it has practical stuff.

I don't remember grade 10 math. All I remember is that I streamed the Jays/Indians season opener 2 years ago during class lol They have Data Management (a 4U class), which is more practical for non-STEM career choices. kgm1 Verified Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 That sucks for me. Sucks for me too . He was my 2nd starter behind Darvish after losing Parker and Sanchez to injury . I thought I had a good rotation with Darvish, Parker, Sanchez, Perez, and Richards. Now 3 are on the DL. I was in 3rd till Perez started hurting even with the losses now it is quickly down to 5th and dropping.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Johnny Cueto is really something. Has faced one over the minimum through five with five strikeouts. 2.69 xFIP on the season.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Johnny Cueto is really something. Has faced one over the minimum through five with five strikeouts. 2.69 xFIP on the season. Cueto gave 5.5 million pesos or 131K dollars to each one of his brothers to stay away from him and his money. The Cueto's brothers wanted to spend the Johnny's fortune. lol
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 lol, man you guys are transparent. C'mon, it's news-worthy! He's the NL Cy Young favourite.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Which part, dominating the hapless Padres or his xFIP? (Still only 5th in the NL.) Cueto has dominated plenty of good teams too. He has a streak of nine starts with seven or more innings, two runs or fewer to start the season (3 CG). That's objectively impressive! Edit: MLB seems to agree.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 What's more impressive is that he is largely using his upper body. He's not lifting his right leg at all. If he had proper mechanics he could be +100 mph ;o
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Corey Kluber has a 2.24 FIP. I thought you'd all enjoy this update as much I did. That's how it's done! Corey Kluber seems to be a legitimate #2 starter.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 So Jesse Chavez is sure turning some heads! 3.07 xFIP also with great periphs. I thought you'd all enjoy this update as much I did. None of us predicted he could put it together. The closest player that I guess we could compare to Chavez back then is Esmil Rogers right now. Promising stuff but always gets shelled. But I doubt anyone here would envision Rogers staying in a rotation as a #3.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Lmao, I just read the last few pages, didn't know it was going to create such discussion. I had to learn like 30 lines of Macbeth, so it wasn't that horrible, I suck at presentations/public speaking though so I wasn't as good as I wanted to be.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Twinkies! They walk off the Red Sox (again)!

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Travis D'Arnaud on the DL with a concussion Isn't that a bit of a thing with him??

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Pretty much. d'Arnaud can't catch a break. Good thing they still have Syndegaard..

Convo Verified Member Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Two relatively unheard of call-ups pitching their first games in the NY series throwing shut outs so far through 4 1/2 innings (deGrom and Whitley)
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Were you guys aware Brandon McCarthy is throwing his sinker much harder this year, with excellent results? Vastly improved periphs and a 2.76 xFIP. I thought you'd all enjoy this update as much I did. He's been racking up the strikeouts. I've always been a fan of McCarthy. If he stays healthy, he'll put together a strong season. Could be a decent trade target at the deadline perhaps.

But I doubt anyone here would envision Rogers staying in a rotation as a #3. It's still early, but he's been a great story. I have him in my 30 team salary dynasty league I'm in. Lets see if he can handle the full workload of a starter (180-200 IP). It'll be interesting to see how he fares once he reaches the 100-120 inning mark.
kgm1 Verified Member Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 So most of you have probably heard that position player Drew Butera hit 94 on the gun last night, (Brooks Baseball actually called it 95.) http://i.imgflip.com/8t2mc.gif Neato, very impressive...but check out this breaking ball, http://i.imgflip.com/8t245.gif http://i.imgur.com/6cQ1F0p.gif And he vists Dr Andrews a week from now
