Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Cards sign Carlos DelV minor league deal.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Red Sox, Yankees, D-Backs and Cardinals are not interested or out on Shields. Who's going to sign him? Us? Padres? Marlins?

I have said for the last 2 weeks that Padres are the best fit because their pitching depth is worse than ours.... Thats my prediction and i am sticking to it.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 The Padres are one of the deepest in the league IMO. Kennedy Cashner Ross Morrow Johnson Despaigne Erlin Wisler C Kelly Maurer Luebke Yeah, but Padres FO isn't smart and injuries. Luebke is good as s***

King Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 A little more on Danny Salazar.. CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Indians have released a statement that they are aware of an investigation involving their pitcher Danny Salazar. The statement reads: “We are aware of an investigation involving Danny,” said Cleveland Indians GM Chris Antonetti. “Since this potentially could become a legal matter, we won’t have any additional comment at this time.” ---tribe--- Cleveland Police confirm the Cleveland Division of Police Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit is currently investigating a sexual assault report against Salazar. The police report states that the incident occurred the morning of January 23 at the Hustler Club, located at 1101 Center Road in Cleveland. The female victim, 20, was taken to the emergency room at University Hospitals. Ohio.com said Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reported that no charges have been filed. http://www.newsnet5.com/sports/baseball/indians/cleveland-indians-pitcher-danny-salazar-being-investigated

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Viciedo was flat out released. Even considering the need for OF depth, it's still really hard to fap to this: http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=3917&position=OF
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Viciedo was flat out released. He must be pretty bad. Watch some bad team (Phillies possibly?) take a shot at him for $550K+ (minimum MLB salary). No, the Jays should stay away from him.. he can't defend in the OF.. but if he was used at 1B, he might be worth a shot.. but we have enough of those (1B).
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Epstein sure loves former Red Sox pitchers, claiming Drake Britton off Red Sox waivers, DFAing Gonzalez Germen.. Now the Cubs have Lester, Doubront, Britton, Rizzo, Ross, Sweeney, Herrera.. at this rate, I expect one of Victorino/Nava/Craig/Bradley to be with the Cubs by Opening Day.

That was a close one... I mean, he's rich and famous(ish), but he's also not white. Never know how those sorts of cases are going to go...
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 When is the first Blue Jay expected to report for ST? Lots of them are apparently already there. The mandatory dates for pitchers and catchers is the 22nd, and for position players the 26th. First workout is a day after those dates.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Brewers sign Chris Perez. That would have been a nice minor league signing. IIRC he has makeup issues though.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 His peripherals show that he should've been worse, with FIPs in the 5s. He is a piece of s***. And he's no guarantee to make the team.. Milwaukee is still trying for Papelbon or a K-rod reunion.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 He's 29 and has been a below-average pitcher for his career (compiling 0.1 WAR). Very meh. And he got 1.5M if he makes the club and 1.5M in incentives. Yikes.
