Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 You realize that Robertson is a better prospect than Sanchez, yes? Come on, you know that's not true.
jays76 Verified Member Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 I sure wish we could have landed the Zorilla.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 I wonder if Lawrie/Escobar could sprout any drama Who do you think wrote tu eres maricon on Joonel's eyeblack, lol.

Pompey is #88 and Hoffman is #90 on the list so i guess they are somewhat equivalent.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 Would anyone here trade Pompey before Sanchez? I think if the club lacked pitching and had a lot of OF depth some people would. Personally it would still be a no for me.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 Would anyone here trade Pompey before Sanchez? No I don't trust pitching prospects as much as position player prospects
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 Would anyone here trade Pompey before Sanchez? Not a chance!!
flafson Verified Member Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 Would anyone here trade Pompey before Sanchez? I gave you another option in Hoffman.

fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 I'm having the Rays fanbase over tonight so we can get drunk and re-watch games from 2008. So it's going to be you and..... yourself getting drunk and watching 2008 Rays games?

Just because baseball America or Sickles likes a player doesn't mean they too will like a player at the same value.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 So it's going to be you and..... yourself getting drunk and watching 2008 Rays games? you jumped...one off season and you jump back. You'll be begging to party in BTS's parents basement by next year. There is very little to like about this deal from the Rays point of view...but they still will have a good pitching staff.

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 Very happy to see Zobrist leave the AL East,
TheHurl Site Manager Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 I like that they are getting out from the Escobar contract. They shouldn't have extended him in the first place but that was Friedman's mistake. What? Escobar on pace for a 4 win season walks in and says "2 years $13M" any GM that says no should be fired. Anyway the word I'm hearing is that Oakland still might be dangling Zobrist to the Jays.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 Rays sign Juan Francisco to minors deal to K a ton.. at least he's not in Toronto anymore to hurt our lineup.

Joonel's going to do well in Oakland, gap power, great defense beside his buddy Lawrie, yeah, I see decent numbers/value there.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 A's next move: Zobrist to Jay for Navarro and Pentecost.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 A's next move: Zobrist to Jay for Navarro and Pentecost. Don't get my hopes up
baubau Verified Member Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 A's next move: Zobrist to Jay for Navarro and Pentecost. Though there may be early concerns if he will or will not stick in the position of catcher, I am still high on Pentecost. Would much rather trade Sanchez than a position player, especially catcher.
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 A's next move: Zobrist to Jay for Navarro and Pentecost. I don't think Oakland would take Navarro for free.
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Rays LF DH platoon guy count: Jaso, DeJesus, Francisco
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Francisco was an above league average hitter for us last year. People forget this because he went from.so hot to so cold
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Francisco was an above league average hitter for us last year. This may have been true, but I don't see that happening again in the future. The league figured him out pretty easily, all you have to do is bounce a breaking ball and it's a guaranteed swing.

xposbrad Verified Member Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 A's next move: Zobrist to Jay for Navarro and Pentecost. I'd rather throw in another prospect or 2 and get a guy like Hamels then a 34 year old who is a FA at the year and should start seeing some decline in his game. I think this club has enough hitting now. Boston is still getting a #1 pitcher. I think we will see a regression in Buerhle this year, and we should target an ace with our prospects.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Fangraphs likes the deal.. Oakland is now projected to be in a dogfight with the Angels, Jays, Rays(won't last), and Indians for wild cards. As for the Rays.. huge question marks regarding the 2015 roster, and it's very likely ownership is not done selling, with Jennings or DeJesus next to go. Heck, it's still possible Longoria gets dealt too.. rumor has it an unnamed NL team (Dodgers?) or teams inquired on him. It's like ownership is blowing up the roster to rebuild to contend when the team is sold and moves to Montreal/Charlotte/wherever in a few years, with no stadium on the horizon in Tampa. What's your guess on the attendance in Tampa this year? The 2003 franchise low of 13,070 (per game) will almost certainly be shattered after this fire sale.. yes, I know they brought in Asdrubal Cabrera, but his value stinks right now because of his terrible 2B/SS defense.. and who knows whether his bat will rebound.
