KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Sandoval is worth more to the Giants than to anybody else. That makes the most sense.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Sandavol is not the answer to the Jays Problem. I rather Kratz + Melky >>>> Martin + Dirks Navarro can DH. If they can get Kratz back do it and use the money they were going to use on Martin to retain Melky.

If they can get Kratz back do it and use the money they were going to use on Martin to retain Melky. There are better catchers than Kratz on the market. I mean, even the Royals wouldn't play Kratz, because he is no more than a backup catcher at best who can't hit.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Was this tweet referencing the Jays as being interested in Markakis posted yet?
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Oh god not Markakis Agreed. A Gose/Pillar would be better IMO.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 What the f***ing point to reaching out to all these players that you aren't going to sign? Like yeah Markakis could make sense on a 1/5 contract but everyone knows he won't sign for that so no point in even wasting your time.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Markakis is like an average regular. Nothing wrong with him if the commitment isn't huge.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Markakis is like an average regular. Nothing wrong with him if the commitment isn't huge. What kind of commitment are you talking about? I just don't think he does much for us as a middling to poor fielder with a pretty mediocre bat and baserunning. Pompey in CF and Pillar/Gose in LF might be a better option.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 V-Mart about to resign for 4 years with the Tigers. Ken RosenthalVerified account @Ken_Rosenthal Sources: #Tigers close to re-signing Victor Martinez to four-year deal. No surprise, but the years may be a bit much for a Tigers team facing a declining core in upcoming years.

z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 I sure don't want him for 4 years.

Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 I don't get this on the tigers front...... The guy should be in his declining years 36-40 years of age. I had him on a 2 year deal and that would be about it.
TBJ12 Verified Member Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Someone on MLBTR is saying 4/72. If it's anywhere near that this deal looks f***ing horrible.
BTS Community Moderator Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Markakis is like an average regular. Nothing wrong with him if the commitment isn't huge. I think he's more of a 1-1.5 win guy. Next year. And he's going to get 3-4 years.

BTS Community Moderator Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 So now Edwin and Jose will be looking for 4/80+ after 2016.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 So now Edwin and Jose will be looking for 4/80+ after 2016. Deal Jose before it comes to it.
BTS Community Moderator Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Deal Jose before it comes to it. More likely now. This is precedent setting. A 36-year old bat-only player has never received money like this (IIRC). Bau will be looking at 4/80 and Edwin like 5/100 if they have good 2016 seasons.
BTS Community Moderator Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Chris Cotillo @ChrisCotillo 51s52 seconds ago In 2018, the #Tigers will pay 35-year old Verlander, 35-year old Cabrera and 39-year old V-Mart a combined $75 million. lol
Laika Community Moderator Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Detroit was already on this highway to hell though. Might as well have as much fun as possible before they crash....
