So Jason Hammel now has a 9.53 ERA since coming to Oakland. Safe to say the Cubs maximized his value even though we really don't know what he personally was worth.

 

Maybe Oakland should've just taken Samardzija instead of taking Hammel as well..

Small sample size.

 

Even Samardzija hasn't performed very well. Has a 4.01 FIP and 3.65xFIP in that ballpark.

 

xFIP tries to eliminate park factor by calculating homeruns as 10.5% of flyballs induced, so not exactly sure what "in that ballpark" means.

Yeah but you aren't going to have him for a big sample size either.. Some would argue he was expected to regress anyways.

Yeah fair enough. I think Samardizja has been good but that people probably expected better.

He had some really good years with Oakland from 2001-2006, with 4 5-WAR seasons in those years. He was a premium defender at the hot corner, it's a shame he never continued that performance and pretty much became a journeyman afterwards.

 

Chavez was one of the best third basemen during those years. Sucks that his career was plagued by injuries later on. He did end up having some solid years as a bench guy in New York and with Arizona.

No kidding. They can't lose these days. Jays have been on a tear and only made up 1 game.

would have been bases juiced with one out in a 1 run game. lol hurts to watch something that bad.

Well, since the Yankees can't beat the Rangers (lost 2 of 3).. what makes you think they'll beat the Red Sox? Even Chase Headley isn't helping. They made Colby Lewis look like an ace.

Watch the Red Sox pound the Yankees this weekend..

 

hope they play a bunch of 15 inning games and split. would be nice to see them both limp out of the weekend. lol

All that matters is the Yankees at this point, Red Sox are done.

it went left center.

 

But it's sort of deceptive. If you look at Kurt Suzuki's left arm, there is a patch that sort of looks like a fastball, so I guess you could say that fooled Hughes.
