Wouldn't be much different of a player if Gose showed some power over a few months if he developed a leg kick.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Probably thought the same thing about Zobrist. So for every Zobrist we have a Reid brignac, Tim backham and Delmon Young. What happened to that good bat Bj Upton had his few years to the finished product he became as a free agent? They're about average in developing players. They make shrewd trades.

Upton gave them like 22 wins. Nothing wrong with that.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Upton gave them like 22 wins. Nothing wrong with that. Thankfully, he turned down the extension that they wanted to give him. In what might just be the luckiest break in the history of the franchise, they were resigned to offering the extension to their second choice, Evan Longoria.

What happened to that good bat Bj Upton had his few years to the finished product he became as a free agent? They're about average in developing players. They make shrewd trades. Weird post. A) I didn't imply they were even good (above average) at drafting and developing. Rather that they were not bad at it as many on this board would lead you to believe. The current regime didn't draft Delmon Young. In fact, they inherited that mess and fixed the situation with one of their best trades. Not sure why this would be in your points against column. C) "What happened to that good bat Bj Upton had his few years to the finished product he became as a free agent?" - I don't really know what you're trying to say here. I think something along the lines of "they f***ed BJ Upton up". That doesn't make any sense. 22 wins while under team control exceeds rational expectations.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Seattle losing 2-0 to Colon and the Mets.. a Mariners loss and a Jays win puts us right in the mix at 0.5 GB. So we should knock off the sell talk..
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Who would you cheer for in the BAL/SEA series? We're right in the wild card mix, but we want to catch Baltimore.. who should we support?
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Colon has a perfect game through 6 innings.

We're right in the wild card mix, but we want to catch Baltimore.. who should we support? f*** the Orioles, winning the division is more important anyways, winning the second wildcard doesn't guarantee the playoffs.

The division lead needs to be trimmed down more than the wild card, plus the goal should be to take the division and avoid that silly 1 game WC playoff.

jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Mets barely hang on for the win. 3-2
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Well, now that Sanchez is in the majors, let's see what has happened to the rest of the Lansing trio: Syndergaard AAA (Vegas) , 8-5, 5.34 ERA, 1.527 WHIP, 10.9 H/9IP, 2.9 BB/9IP, 9.1 K/9IP. Nicolino: AA, 8-3, 3.12 ERA, 1.073 WHIP, 8.5 H/9ip, 1.1 BB/9IP, 4.2 K/9IP. He's been passed by Anthony Desclafani and Andrew Heaney on the depth chart. Most of his K's were left in Lansing. Syndergaard will likely reach the majors next.. but not until September or 2015, as his command isn't there yet. Of course, playing in Vegas doesn't help. Nicolino may not reach the majors until mid-late 2015 or later, as he has yet to reach AAA.
