O's win 8-4. (sigh.)

Still a chance to pick up ground vs. Seattle.. 1-1 in the 11th.

They look better than us

Here's the Jays lineup for today since no one put a GDT up yet:

Reyes-SS

Kawasaki-2B

Cabrera-LF

Bautista-DH

Navarro-C

Rasmus-CF

Johnson-1B

Tolleson-3B

Gose-RF

Cisco benched even with a right-hander.. wonder if he'll be on his way out soon if the Jays add another bat via trade.

Upcoming matchups for the Red Sox series:

Lackey (3.42 SIERA) vs. Hutchison (3.91 SIERA)

Peavy(4.29 SIERA) vs. Happ (4.32 SIERA)

Buchholz(4.13 SIERA) vs. Dickey (4.14 SIERA)

TBA (likely De La Rosa)(3.67 SIERA) vs. Stroman (3.39 SIERA)

Very evenly matched series.. but Toronto could have the advantage due to Boston's struggles with offense, even despite the recent win streak (14th in runs scored, 12th in average, last in SLG). Of course, their offense only benefits from recent games vs. Chicago and Houston, and their series against the offensively punchless Kansas City Royals.

I appologize for disagreeing with you in the past, its clear you have been right all along. Just stupid hope keeping me from reality. This team is garbage, and needs to be blown up. All you get is pain

And BTW, I know Boston is hitting better. But it doesn't mean anything as much of it was inflated from a 16-9 rout by the Cubs on July 2, along with the Astros series. Quality of opponents also affects numbers as well (CHC, BAL, CHW, HOU, KCR).

A number of those stats, especially the hitting, were inflated from the 16-9 game earlier this month, and playing the joke of a team named the Houston Astros. And despite those stats you show, the team is .500 on the month.. and hasn't had a winning month this season. Boston's been winning a lot of 1-run games.. especially against offensively challenged teams.

The Red Sox are pretty clearly a top 10 team going forward. They're good.

No, they're not. Not even close.

Oh and BTW, the line on Yordano Ventura:

4.1 IP, 9 H, 6 ER, 4 BB, 0 Ks.

Looks like Ventura wasn't fooling any of the Sox hitters. The Royals are 5-9 (soon to be 5-10) on the month, and sliding out of contention.

If they're a top 10 team, let's see them do that against contending teams like Toronto, Tampa, Baltimore (who they last 2 of 3 to recently) and the Yankees, who the Sox all have losing records against.

Oh?

There's a 538 article from a couple days ago explaining the basic statistical argument. I don't feel like doing you the courtesy of linking it because you're annoying.

Then there's the whole bevy of common sense based arguments any of which would lead a reasonable individual to conclude Boston is still a good team.

Chris Davis is having a horrendous year. Wow.

He's turned back into the Adam Dunn clone he basically was that got dumped by the Rangers in that Koji Uehara trade.

Brady Anderson 2.0

Brady Anderson actually hit .288 the following year after his 50 HR season, and he didn't strike out at a 30%+ clip like Davis.

Yanks won earlier due to Aroldis Chapman's wildness in the 10th and a McCann walkoff single. So we'lll stay tied regardless of what happens here.. but let's hope LA and Oakland win tonight.

Wait. So part of your argument against the Sox being a good team now is that they were able to destroy a guy with a 3.69 xFIP on the year? That's an ... uh ... interesting tactic.

The Royals are 1 loss behind the Jays. The Jays are all of 6-9 during the month of July. Basically, the Jays and Royals are interchangeable, in terms of quality of competition right now.

Ok now your just talking crap. You have good point but then you just sound like you have hatred in your heart

Can I ask. Do you have a gf.

When the orioles lose today, both the rays and the redsox will be 7.5 GB

We can put those price and zobrist rumors to rest

Gausman fails to go 5, as the A's hitters have hit him around to the tune of 9 hits and 5 runs.. despite the small sample size of less than 80IP, those FIP/xFIP/SIERA numbers don't lie.. (3.55/4.33/4.45).
