This just in: Jose Molina can frame pitches well.

Shocking development. That's the kinda s*** that gets you hired.

Yanks lose and sink to .500. Expect a desperation move by the Yanks within days. The team's 2-8 in their last 10 and sinking out of the playoff race, as they will be 3.5 and 4.0 back of the AL East and wild card, respectively.

Since they're not scoring, expect the Steinbrenners to start making moves, including releasing struggling vets(Roberts, Soriano) trading for players and possibly calling up Pirela, Murphy and that infield prospect Rob Refsnyder.

Red Sox lose again.

THE Mookie Betts: 0-4, 3 flyouts. 1-10 with 1 BB overall. He needs to go back to AAA, as he is far from MLB ready. According to Boston media, Betts still needs work with his routes in CF and RF.

Boston should've waited until September or 2015 to call him up, as he has failed so far to solve Boston's OF woes. Wil Middlebrooks and Shane Victorino need to return soon.

Still don't get Seattle.. but boy that team is legit! Right now they lead 12-1 vs. Houston. Yanks fans aren't going to like it, as they'll be 4 out of the wild card..

Yes. Clearly a failure.

Wasn't Kevin Pillar like this for us last year, with some lesser hype than Mookie Betts?

However, let's wait and see what Betts does vs. Baltimore. If he continues to struggle, he will definitely be sent back to Pawtucket.

It's not that he's overmatched, as he's had good discipline at the plate.. it's just that Boston's patience is starting to wear thin, especially with pressures to return to the postseason again, despite the fact last year's team was a fluke causing by career years and a healthy Jacoby Ellsbury.

Hey, have you seen what's happened to Xander Bogaerts? Since June 7th he's hitting .087/.123/.130. That has brought him down to a seasonal 95 wRC+. The Red Sox are not hitting at all -- Stephen Drew (who was supposed to fix everything) has a -10 wRC+ in 18 games.

As of this morning I thought Bogaerts was having a fantastic season. Huh.

He was...then June happened. My fantasy team is suffering as a result

Kevin Pillar was over age at every level. Mookie is only 21 and like you said has very good plate discipline. Boston is pretty much out of it and has little to no chance of winning the division. Most Boston people should know this.

I would have never guessed it but according to Fangraphs the most valuable pitch by a member of the Blue Jays this season has been a JA Happ fastball...I don't think anyone would have guessed that coming into the season. Side note Dickey's knuckler is the worst pitch by a large margin.

Wow...what a goof! The ump should've rung up a strike for that bush league s***.

Look where the first 3 pitches were. They were clearly unintentionally intentionally walking him.

People these days seem to think if you're not contending, you may as well tank and trade all of your veterans. Which I don't subscribe too, it means something to put a decent product on the field. Seth Smith is a useful player and is worth this contract.

Yup. People forget that at the end of the day it's a business and owners don't want to lose millions of dollars in crippling attendance and ratings.

He's very comfortable at the plate. He's making quality contact. He isn't swinging at bad pitches, and he isn't getting fooled, even with nasty pitches, and even with good sequencing. He just needs hits to fall. He is definitely MLB-ready at the plate. He isn't struggling. He just isn't getting hits to fall (compare to Drew, who has looked entirely lost trying to get his wits about him at the plate, and Bogaerts during his long stretch of futility, who has had equal parts bad luck and equal parts cluelessness at the plate). Betts definitely belongs in the majors now, based on his bat.

As everyone knew, given that he's hardly played the OF, at all, at any level, he's a complete work-in-progress in the outfield. He has the arm and speed to play out there at a plus level. He just has to get used to all the nuances of tracking balls. He just hasn't had the reps. For that reason, he should still be down in the minors taking those reps. He's a long-term asset and should be treated as such.

But I know you're not interested in reasonable discussion. Just painting things in as negative a light as possible for any team not named the Jays.

Look, Betts will be great down the road. But he's likely headed back to AAA soon, as Mike Carp, Wil Middlebrooks and Shane Victorino are going to be coming off the DL soon. However, it's also possible they demote Bogaerts (who's badly struggling) and JBJ (same)

SS prospect Devan Marrero just got promoted to AAA by the Red Sox. Drew's days are numbered if Marrero shows some semblance of a bat along with that plus glove.

I think theRed Sox are desperate for any offense these days. Despite being in 4th I think the Red Sox have a legit chance of getting back into the wild card race.

s***, if the Dodgers could catch up to the Giants, the Red Sox can catch up to us too.

Uh.. Seattle? L.A.? Oakland? Those teams have significant leads in the race, and no help is in sight. Seattle is beating Houston right now, and L.A. is on a roll. The only hope for the Sox is a continued implosion by the A's (who are about to get swept by the Tigers.)
