Yup. People forget that at the end of the day it's a business and owners don't want to lose millions of dollars in crippling attendance and ratings.

it's really hard to recover fan base if you build by tanking in baseball. Look at tampa. they have drafted early for a long time and then gone on to be a post season team for a while now and still cant draw fans.

after the Yankees sucked for most of the 70s it took a couple years to fill the stadium again. Steinbrenner had to suck up some huge losses to get back to making a profit. He understood the business of baseball and built an empire. I dont think Rogers has a clue. just a bunch of actuaries who crunch the wrong numbers.

That must have been the guy doing the Tanaka/Stroman game a couple weeks ago.

And the way the Yanks are going their attendance is going to crater as soon as Jeter retires, as the team is absolutely mediocre and expensive. Yanks attendance has dropped sharply since 2010, and could fall further if the team falls out of contention (with a loss today, the Yanks will be below .500)

jays need some help from the rangers tonight.

As long as Miles Mikolas doesn't fall victim to the long-ball, which DFAd Joe Saunders and Nick Martinez have been victim to.

And he's a homer!

The Yankees current lineup would've been unbelievable in like 2005.

Thats what happens when you commit to 40 year old shortstop, trade for a 36 year old outfielder, sign a 37 outfield who looks finished and a trio of replacement level infielders. McCann will succeed unless MLB does something to make umps stick to a strick clean strikezone. Teixeria is injury prone, Ellesbury is being paid for years past.

And that team has just sunk below .500 with a 6-3 loss to Tampa. It's basically now just a battle between the Jays and O's right now in the East, which may be favorable for the Jays because the O's face a nasty schedule after the Rangers series.

You are either unfathomably stupid or unfathomably biased.

O's sked features the Red Sox(3), Nationals(4 home & home), Yankees(3) and Darvish tomorrow before the All-Star break. Two of those series will feature much better pitching than what they've faced vs. Texas, not so certain on the Yankees. Considering how dependent they are on HRs to score, I have doubts on Baltimore's sustainability, especially with such mediocre pitching outside of Gausman.

Ummmm.... Ours looks no better. 3 against the A's who are streaking and the Angels.

I would have never guessed it but according to Fangraphs the most valuable pitch by a member of the Blue Jays this season has been a JA Happ fastball...I don't think anyone would have guessed that coming into the season. Side note Dickey's knuckler is the worst pitch by a large margin.

The jays have the toughest schedule out of all 3 but so far they started out good, taking 2 out of 2.

Exactly

Now the 10 game road trip. Bring it on!

I wonder if Texas' window has closed shut? They still have a talented team but the rotation is thin and most of these top prospects aren't really turning into anything special. Odor might be something but Andrus has regressed a ton... Choice and Martin don't look like anything more than decent depth players... Profar has lost an entire year.

Pretty bad year for them. Will be interesting to see what they do at the deadline.

Obviously Washington will be fired though.

Texas up 1-0 and still threatening

FFS Texas can you just win one f***ing game against the O's?

With THIS guy pitching?? Don't think so. :(

Wash should get the benefit of the doubt for this year, but I don't think he will. This may be the excuse to can him.

Agreed

He probably should have been fired last year

Looked up Miles Mikolas on Round Rock Express website

Found out that JP Arencibia has a .298 OBP and 10 HR in AAA since he was optioned there

Shrugged and moved on

Might get a September call up this year but that'll be it. After this year he'll never another game in the bigs.
