G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 wow what a game by Kershaw!!! I wish I knew last night so I could have tuned in Damn West coast though. I'm even further east so it's +4 hours. Pretty much never get to see Dodgers Giants or Mariners home games. (I'd add Padres but why would I want to watch those) Awesome for Kershaw that it happened at home Indisputably the best pitcher of this decade. Might as well just give him the NL Cy Young trophy now and let him keep it for the foreseeable future.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 For guy like kershaw is that the teams don't like to trade high ceiling arm for mid-rotation starter. I want an ACE on my team (Sanchez, Norris, Hoffman, Osuna)
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Yeah as a casual... if you're a little older anyway... putting in a position player to pitch brings to mind Jose Canseco being brought in for that purpose and blowing out his shoulder. I think a lot of teams probably took note that day. It's one thing when it's a less preventable thing like a guy jumping onto home plate after a walk-off HR but in the case of bringing in a position player to pitch, you'd think you want to do that with one of your least valuable guys.

Maahfaace Verified Member Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Goodbye Gavin Floyd That really sucks for Gavin if he needs TJ surgery again, he's such a good guy and a pretty decent pitcher when healthy. Braves just can't catch any luck, I think they already have 3 pitchers out with TJ surgery. Looks like Alex Wood will be back up, I really like this kid and his herky jerky delivery.

Those two could form a legit tag team.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 You mean Oakland's secret weapon Jeremy Brown (who got an entire chapter in Moneyball)? They featured such a clip in the movie. Yeah that's the one. He wasn't very tall, but he tipped the scales quite a bit.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Nothing world-breaking: Jonathan Lucroy's good. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/bow-down-to-jonathan-lucroy/ Loved this quote from Lucroy in the article: “A long time ago I had a hitting coach tell me that I needed to pull the ball more. That’s not what I do, and that messed me up. Once I got back to doing what I do — hitting line drives up the middle — everything else fell into place. “(Pulling) is not who I am. I’ve been a line-drive hitter since I was in Little League. I’m not going to go up there and try to hit like Aramis Ramirez because that’s not what I do. You’ve just got to be who you are and try to stick to that approach and not try to do too much.”

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Even if the Reds repeated their second inning and scored another 8-runs, and Toronto somehow got shut-out 16-0, it still wouldn't have been the worst Blue Jays performance of the day. Ladies and gentlemen, meet your DSL Blue Jays: http://i.gyazo.com/4ea6670d326eda121038d36b8ba5a9b0.png http://i.gyazo.com/f99d2506326db02310aa0f11c1e7c4b2.png http://i.gyazo.com/bad06b9f637741f788c55d2222b1f2d4.png
