Convo Verified Member Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Tanaka putting up video game numbers......... 35 K's, 2 BB...... redonkulous. He's looking like a bargain for the Yankees.

Good to see him getting off to a good start.
Convo Verified Member Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Also now leading the majors with eight home runs. Good to see him getting off to a good start. Yup, don't mind as long as he's not against us in our division.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Colin McHugh...he of the career 8.54 ERA just started off his season with 3 straight Ks. Seattle is so bad.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Yet the Angels still don't have the pitching to contend.. and have Texas and Oakland ahead of them in the division.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Really happy to see Pujols hitting again. I hope he keeps it up so we can remember him as one of the best ever and not as a shell of his former self. Well at some point in that contract he will be just that. But yeah I was hoping it would be in year 7/8 rather than year 2/3
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Why won't Seattle play Franklin? Miller's currently at .187 with a 23/2 K/BB ratio in 75 ABs.. he's like Seattle version of JP Arencibia from last year right now.. while Nick Franklin rots on the bench. Oh, and the Mariners are struggling vs. Colin McHugh. What a pathetic franchise.. they make the Jays look really good.

And now they're not even playing him. Don't get it.

Because he's a 2B and they signed Cano to a 10-year deal to play 2B? Oh and did I mention they already had Ackley at 2B? I'm sure several teams still want to trade for him, but they probably want too much for him at this point. Who knows what the heck they'll do. Sure would look good at 2B for them Jays.

fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Yup, Lucroy. Of their 25-man roster, they've drafted and developed Lucroy, Weeks, Gallardo, Braun, Peralta, Davis, Gennett, and Thornburg. Not great. Better track record than us though lol Not great??
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Adam Ottavino is good Rockies pitching staff is good, as always. Them never getting their due is one of my biggest baseball pet peeves. Just once time in the past decade has Colorado had a FIP- above 100 on the season. 87 as of this morning in 2014, 92 last year. In fact, they lead all teams in FIP- since the start of 2005 at 93. One of the best pitching orgs around.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 lol Just a typical game in Vegas. Nine guys pitched for El Paso... and our old friend Dana Eveland got the dub!
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 How is Colin Mchugh shutting down the Mariners with eleven strikeouts and no walks? He's been awful every step of the way. Can you just get eleven lucky strikeouts?
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 DBacks season over? Trade us back Hill. Im f***ing desperate for a second baseman above double-a level.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 ERA = Team defense + luck + pitching talent?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 ERA = Team defense + luck + pitching talent? Yep. I can't count how many hits our infield defense has taken away from other teams. And how many close double plays they've pulled off vs what could gave been runner on first from fielder's choice. Last year at this point we had DeRosa Izturis and Bonifacio regularly manning 3B, SS and 2B. What a breath of fresh air this April has been in this regard.

It's nice not having to wonder if the infield is going to botch a routine play, or throw the ball away.
BlueJaysGirl Verified Member Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 The infield defense has been totally fun to watch. Reyes made a strong throw to 1B from the hole yesterday. It was almost like he was saying, he I can play like that, too. Both EE and Lind at 1B have played well, too. They are digging out throw after throw. It seems every game Lawrie makes an incredible play, deals a strong thrown into the dirt that E5 will dig out. Very fun.
