G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 That could work out REALLY well for Atlanta. Well played.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 "Teheran gets $32.4M for 6 yrs" waooo, just waooo Tanaka 25 AAV Teheran 5,4 AAV MadBum 7 AAV
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I think I'm going to un-follow Tanaka
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I think google loses something in translation on that one lol

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Cubs sign Emilio Bonifacio to minors deal. And Indians don't want Jimenez back.. they signed Aaron Harang to a minors deal.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 MikeDiGiovanna: "Mulder's comeback with #Angels is over before it began. Suffered a ruptured left Achilles doing agility drills" That's too bad, I was kind of rooting for him.
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 $5.4m AAV Nice deal for the Braves Keep in mind that Teheran still had 5 years of control left. Had he not signed this extension, here is a hypothetical salary progression with that term and AAV: 500k 500k 3M 6M 10M 12.4M (FA) The Braves basically guarantee him that ^, which includes one FA year of control, and they also get a 12M team option on the 7th year. So they kind of just guarantee Teheran close to what he would've received in arbitration anyway in order to gamble 12.4M on Teheran for 2019, and then they get a good team option for 2020. It's decent for Atlanta and it's how teams do business now, but it still has tangible downside. Think of what happened with Romero.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Derp.......... Dustin Ackley - 2B - Mariners In the aftermath of the Robinson Cano signing, Dustin Ackley will focus entirely on working in the outfield during spring training. Ackley split time between second base and the outfield last season, even appearing at first base six times. But with Cano holding down the keystone, the 25-year-old will be a full-time outfielder going forward. Ackley is likely to open the season as the Mariners' starting center fielder. Source: Mariners.mlb.com Feb 15 - 5:15 PM Lol, what a joke. That will turn out to be a disaster for them.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Lol, what a joke. That will turn out to be a disaster for them. They will be looking to add when they can, they aren't going for it this year. They need to make smart moves with their many trade pieces. Stay away from Cruz.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Ken_Rosenthal BREAKING: Ryan Dempster will not pitch for #RedSox in 2014 due to physical reasons and his desire to spend more time with his kids.

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Suck it Farrell Trust me, it'll work out for them, it always does. It would be nice if Jake Peavy went back to his injury-prone days, but I don't want to wish anything bad on anyone, what with Karma and s***.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 This just means league-average starter Felix Doubront has a clear job as their fifth starter. They're probably better off without Dempster at this point. ..............and Ubaldo
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 For sure they're better off, he's doing them a favor...$13M!!!
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Why can't Ricky Romero do the same? Things like this don't happen to the Blue Jays, lol.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 The good news for Boston is that they can resign Stephen Drew now.. if he'll take a one year deal without worrying about the luxury tax, which Boston is sensitive to due to their market size. The bad news is that Boston's depth is now compromised, as one of Workman or Britton, who were booked for AAA, will make the Red Sox as a long man. And they could be in trouble if Peavy gets hurt, since despite the depth, many of their options, including Webster, De La Rosa, Ranuado and Barnes are unproven or not MLB-ready.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Ricky Romero isn't 36 years old and near the end of his career. And Romero could still rebound if he figures things out.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Just got a bunch of college video. Jameis Winston looked pretty impressive in getting a 6 out save. Only struck out one but hit 96 on the gun. Most impressive starter I hadn't heard of that I've seen so far was Matt Imhof from Cal Poly. Former Jays picks Beede and Nola were impressive in their season debuts. Trying hard to get tape of the UNLV/CMU game, Supposedly Eric Fedde was rolling in a battle against probable first 2 rounders.

Chappy Community Moderator Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 It's an interesting deal because it sets the market for similar arms up for free agency next year: Lester, Masterson, and Shields should all be in that same 6/100 range if that's what Bailey gets. And then Scherzer is in a class if his own. 6/100 is a great deal. I would love Masterson on a deal like that.
