Better against lefties (.269/.318/.379) than righties (.207/.254/.326). He could be a good bench bat for a team that needs help hitting lefty pitching. I hear Tampa, Boston or Texas might be interested. He'd be a great backup OF for the minimum salary (Angels, Jays and Yankees are splitting his salary for next year, with the Angels paying the majority.)

Vernon Wells has been DFAd by the Yankees. What a fall from grace for the former 3-time all Star when he was with the Jays. Wonder where he ends up next.

On a beach in the Carribean or as part time DH partner for Adam Lind. More likely the former. Retirement.

I thought about that possibility, but 2013 numbers against lefties are pitiful... Probably any number of right handed minor league vets or someone like Jeff Baker (suggested by Spanky) could do better.

Did anybody see Lind at the Raptors game the other night? Was having a beer with Nox at a sports bar and they showed Lind courtside. He's looking fat and sporting a 6 inch red goatee. Not a good look.

And he was chilling with Blue Jays Badass HOFer Jesse Carlson.

I thought Nox was looking fat too

Is 5'9, 230 lbs considered fat?

Let's just put it this way, if I had him on my prospect roster he'd be on the trade block...oh who am I kidding I'd never draft a fattie in the first place

Rangers starter Derek Holland is out until midseason after a knee injury that took place Tuesday, Anthony Andro of FOX Sports Southwest reports. Holland had surgery today (Twitter links).

The effect the injury will have on the Rangers' offseason planning is unclear. The Rangers are, however, still unlikely to acquire any of the remaining top pitching options, MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan writes (also via Twitter). Instead, they will try to acquire more depth.

Happ + Santos for Choice + Odor + s***

It depends on body type and other factors. Some people (albeit a small percentage) would only appear slightly overweight at 5'9, 230.

Considering he was the workhorse of the staff last year (led with 213.0 IP), this could be troubling for the Rangers. And it also continues a trend of injury problems for Rangers pitchers, as they used 11 starters last year due to various injuries. However, they will be getting Matt Harrison back.

Definitely a blow to the Rangers and to my FC dynasty team. Harrison with his 2 back surgeries and Lewis questionable plus Ogando,s durability should have them very worried . Happless would give them some depth but I'm not sure they are that worried .He isn't a 5th starter on a winning team so I have to think they will look for better .

Happless for a bag of balls and them taking the stupid contract would please me .

Ken, if Happ is a #5 on a good team, then why would we trade him for a bag of balls? Either you think our team is elite, or you consider his $5M salary to be a hindrance to our already nearly $135M payroll. It just doesn't add up.

I respect your opinion, but this Happ hate from half the board is a load of crap. He has value.

Well, the Rangers will need to add something-- their AAA depth is weak after Nick Tepesch with AAAA vets such as Nate Adcock, Justin Germano and Ryan Freierabend, as many of their young pitchers are expected to be in AA. And taking Robbie Ross or Tanner Scheppers out of the bullpen and into the rotation could be a problem for their strong bullpen, and apparently is being considered.

All things considered, id rather have Wojo than Happ

If potential middle relievers are your thing, that's cool.

Meh. I'd have a lot more patience for a 4.5 ERA 5th starter if he could go deep into games. Averaging 5.1 innings per start is f***ing terrible.

He isn't great by any means but he is a fifth starter, nothing more. What he provides in his role isn't terrible by any means.

Are you referring to Wojo or Happ as the potential middle reliever? Just wondering.

Wojo obviously. Happ is Wojo's ceiling.

Happ 5.1 IP per start; Wocj 5.1 IP per Start 2014

I agree with you regarding Wojo. He's behind many of Houston's top pitching prospects such as Mark Appel and Mike Foltynewicz, and probably won't make their rotation anytime soon. Wojo projects by MLB.com to be an average starter like Happ, which is something Houston does not need right now, especially when they're trying to build a contender.

Doesn't help that Wojo is kind of a worthless prospect.
