Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Author Posted December 18, 2013 You don't hire Scott Boras if you care about more than money. He's said to want an eighth year, this is probably that. Boras demanded an amount of money similar to Ellsbury's deal.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Well..not like it's that or nothing. I guessed he would get 6/120 somewhere and that's prob reasonable. So if I'm already making $100+m, I would care about where it it was or what my family thought and people said that NYY were done with paying guys well past their best before date. lol money still grows on the stupid tree in NY
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 and people said that NYY were done with paying guys well past their best before date. lol money still grows on the stupid tree in NY I don't recall ANYONE saying that
raBBit Verified Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 I call ********. Ultimately he ends up in Detroit or Texas IMO. Probably Texas after they lose out on Tanaka to NYY/LAD/CHC.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 I'm guessing he'll end up signing for less than that. You are underestimating the stupidity of the mariners.
Nox Verified Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 You are underestimating the stupidity of the mariners. You make a valid point. Watch them give him Cano $ now. It only takes one idiot. Words Boras lives by I'm sure.
roday Verified Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 I think the price is too rich
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 This had to have been before they signed Ellsbury, right?

So if I'm already making $100+m, I would care about where it it was or what my family thought I dunno, extra $20M would help me make a decision a little easier. Damn, sometimes I forget how much money these guys have. $100M+, your family is set for life for the next 50+ generations. That's insane. "What do you do for a living that you have so much money?" "Nothing." "What?! Why not?" "My great great great great great great great great grandpa played in the Majors."
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Yankees can't sign a Free Agent...no one wants to play in a different country which has no chance to win.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 I can't think Choo gets more than that offer. What was he thinking?
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 I would give Choo that in a heartbeat 20 million per season for 7 years? Not going to end well.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 One of twenty players all-time in the 20-20-.420 club! You think he'll do that again?
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 I can't think Choo gets more than that offer. What was he thinking? Maybe he has an offer from Seattle in his back pocket.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Maybe he has an offer from Seattle in his back pocket. Possibly, I see them as the only other team willing to fork more for him.
Howard Roark Verified Member Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 4/110 if we were still in derp-mode. No no-trade clauses whatsoever, natch. f*** you if you say no, didn't want you anyways we're about to rebuild bitch.

Google these terms and spend at least an hour reading. It's depressing stuff though, fair ye be waned.
Howard Roark Verified Member Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 In my experience the only people who constantly worry about these things are poor people That's because you're poor and worry about your finances. Plus, you confuse curiosity with worry.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2013 Author Posted December 20, 2013 CJNitkowski Heard NYY/Choo agreed at 7/140. Then Boras asked to make it $143, $1M over Carl Crawford. Angered NYY, agreed with Beltran instead.

I don't have anything against the players selecting Boras as the agent, but I'd sure love to see one of these ridiculous moves by him spectacularly backfire once in a while.
