bzapple Verified Member Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 That Tim Cahill trade was retarded too. Yeah I was thinking Anderson from the other tread, got my A's pitchers mixed up lol Got your Cahills mixed up too...
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Apparently De Aza or Viciedo could be moved now after getting Trumbo. Viciedo could be interesting as the platoon bat with Lind. Career .900 ops vs lefties, although not the greatest sample size.

However, I prefer that platoon guy to have some defensive value if he's going to get injury replacement time. Dayan is a butcher out there

Personally, I'd like one guy off the bench with some power, even if the defense is suspect. Pair him with something like Gose and Goins who provide good defense and PR speed.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 My hatred for Trumbo doesn't allow me to be biased enough to assess this deal. I struggle to believe that he's a positive defensive outfielder too.

I agree though, thinking he's going to be average defensively sounds like desire trumping reality.
8D Verified Member Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Angels get Skaggs and Santiago for Trumbo? Are you s***ing me? And they saved $4MM. Fleeced Kevin Towers.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 According to Elliott (facepalm) the Jays were actually in on the DBacks pitchers until the Angels stole them away with Trumbo. http://www.torontosun.com/2013/12/10/blue-jays-trade-talk-with-dbacks-scuttled Note: Jesus christ, does nobody edit this guy's articles?

No kidding he was. With how motivated he is I'm sure he offered something pretty good too. Probably turned him down and took this other offer. Later we will keep hearing of how we should have acquired Fister or Skaggs when those teams were probably not interested in packages that would have already made people here uncomfortable. The lack of understanding of some of these concepts (ie: player preferences, GM preferences, other teams scouting having different opinions than BA or BP etc...) is astounding during most of the complaining sessions that go on here.
