This was probably going to be a salary dump with the Jays picking up some crappy player in return for giving up a decent arm. This is AA we're talking about.

Breaking news - Jays tentatively acquired Prince Fielder, had their training staff test his 40 yard time... He couldn't finish it

Deal off

Man, we and 28 other fanbases out there right now are pissed that it wasn't our GM on the other end of the line with Dombrowski when the Fister Incident occurred.

Imagine if AA somehow managed to get Fister and Porcello for a couple of our Ace Relievers and some of our non-SanchezStroman prospects..............we might have been finally able to weather the annual injury epidemic on the mound.

According to shi davidi's article on sportsnet he says this potential trade would have brought back a starting pitcher for the jays. Doesn't matter now I guess but it would be fun to guess who the pitcher could have been. Maybe Holland?

I'm still going with Ogando.

It was a 3 way deal.

I bet the starter was from the third team. Maybe the D'Backs (Cahill?), they seem to get into a lot of three-ways.

Rangers - Santos

Jays - Cahill

Dbacks - ?????

Turning Santos into a starter would've been nice

oh god i thought you meant converting him into a starter for a second

Depends on the starter lol.

I just don't have faith in AA to get the full value out of Santos.

Couldn't we have built a deal around Santos for Fister?

Think they wanted lefties.

Not according to Dombrowski. We "didn't have what they were looking for"

True. Even so, turning him into rotation depth would be okay. Guy just can't seem to stay healthy.

No, I knew someone would misinterpret that.

AA's comments regarding Fister indicate Dombrowski had a hard-on for one or more of the players he traded him for. Sometimes when people get tunnel vision there is no coming back.
