ace3113 Verified Member Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Lee + Brown would be awesome. Utley + Brown would be very good. Brown + pretty much anything else would be a disaster. 100% agree. Brown would basically be a throw in. We could even flip him to another team. Send Happ to Philly as well to replace Lee and make up for the difference in Bautista and Lee's salary.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 People saying Bautista wants a trade because he's unhappy with his $14 million salary because that players we acquired last year are making more lol what, does he think getting traded means a salary increase or something?
Chappy Community Moderator Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Brown playing right instead of Bautista creates a hole Also who cares at this point if the team gets younger? With the way we're headed, I'd gladly take Lee over a 28 year old #3 starter Brown likely ends up in LF, his D is kind of really bad from what I understand. As for getting younger, it does matter if done wisely.

I think you are undervaluing Bautista greatly and overrating (and regarding the injury history of) Utley
ace3113 Verified Member Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 I'm expecting Stroman to be in this deal one way or another. He's black, with "swag" there's no way AA trades him. He'd probably trade the White/Spanish Sanchez first.

Chappy Community Moderator Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 And what do you do with Melky f*** if I know.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Some Philly fans think Brown is too much for Bautista....sigh lmao
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Melky can play right. Maybe also trade Rasmus, and sign Ellsbury. Melky in right?????? WHAT???? After what we saw last season?!!! No thanks, I'd rather hold on to Bautista and try to get Garza than to trade him and open up another hole. Bautista's still a star, regressing or not. Nah we should extend Colby, he'll be tonnes cheaper than Ellsbury. We shouldn't be trading this offseason, except from the pen. Everything needs to be done via posting system and FA.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Some Philly fans think Brown is too much for Bautista....sigh Philly fans a good deal is Howard for Bautista lmao

aselvana Verified Member Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 good time to check on this board... WHAT the f*** is going on!!!
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Ruben Amaro Jr is probably the dumbest f***ing GM of the past decade. He single handedly ruined a potential dynasty set up by Gillick via ridiculous contracts and trades. This is the guy who is responsible for the Ryan Howard contract among a variety of other disasters. If AA gets outsmarted by this guy... well.... I won't really know what to say.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Seems like a type of deal to clear payroll to use on FA or to use to take on another big contract via trade. If this has any merit, it will really depend on what the package is.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Wonder if we could get Asche to play 2B? Miguel Gonzalez and Biddle would be on my "Throw in" names when dealing with Amaro

That would bring Buzz back to the team and soften the blow of the fans that love JB
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 From a FG article: "Next year, they’re on the hook for a combined $104 million in salary between Cliff Lee, Ryan Howard, Cole Hamels, Jonathan Papelbon, Jimmy Rollins, and Mike Adams. Toss in Utley at somewhere in the $13 million range, and you’re looking at nearly $120 million for seven players, leaving roughly $40 million for the rest of the roster if we assume the Phillies are going to run a payroll somewhere close to what it was this year." Can the Phillies even afford to take on that much extra salary?
TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 anyone got any Phils fans suggestions here...those will entertain us while we watch the end of the Duke/Kansas game
Chappy Community Moderator Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Their organization is so bad that you can pretty much choose any two non-Lee/Utley names in the organization, add them to Brown, and it would still be an awful deal for us. Bautista locked in at 3/42 is such a ridiculous bargain. Maybe AA dumps the Buehrle contract with Bautista?
aselvana Verified Member Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 really good game, wiggins coming out strong of late
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Maybe AA dumps the Buehrle contract with Bautista? This is what I'm hopeing for Joey B + Mark B for Dom B and Cliff Lee It all rhymes too so its an easy sell to all fan bases
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 If AA trades Bautista the fanbase would uproar, no matter what the return Not sure. His antics have kinda rubbed some people the wrong the way
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Man id be f***ing shocked if AA had the balls to trade Joey B. This s*** could get gnarly. Maybe if there is a god they will take JPA as well

Frag Verified Member Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 There's this tweet from that same guy from months ago: Not sure what to make of this Bautista rumour.
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 If we get a legit Ace Starter (not Ace Reliever), then AA won't have to sell anyone on the trade. People will love Hamels or Lee as much as they love Bautista. Can't see em making a play for Joey B while also dealing away their 29 year old ace.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 If AA trades Bautista the fanbase would uproar, no matter what the return Who gives a f*** as long as it results in an overall better team.

Maybe if there is a god they will take JPA as well Ditto. I was just telling my dad today that AA should be trading Bautista to offload salary and get a decent return, but that there was NO WAY he would have the guts to do it.
