Sanchez vs. Stroman is a really fun debate right now. It has to be basically 50/50.

Stats and Peripherals: Large edge Stroman

Age vs. Level: Slight edge Sanchez

Proximity: Edge Stroman

Stuff: Edge Sanchez

Polish:Stroman

Intangibles: Stroman

Physical profile: Sanchez

So... Let's keep both. :)

I wonder what will happen to Sanchez's stock if he puts up like 7.5 K/9 and 4 BB/9 in AA next year while missing a month or two to injury.

............or possibly we could see him become in Mat Latos kind of pitcher.

Latos Vs David Robertson

Mat Latos' minor league K/BB was like 5/1 lol.

But there are definitely lots of "stuff" prospects that actually turned into big s***.

Homer Bailey really struggled for a few years in both the minors and the majors, but now he's a strong #2. Ubaldo was a lot like Sanchez in the minors. Jon Lester wasn't that awesome in the minors.

There's also the obvious hall of fame example guys like Randy Johnson or Koufax early career.

Yeah, I'm not discounting the possibility that Sanchez turns into a frontline starter, it's just difficult for me to be optimistic about a player when the results aren't there when they hit the A+/AA stage of their development.

Well, optimism isn't exactly warranted. It's sane to be hopeful about the upside, but he'll probably "fail". Of course.

I see Sanchez as a purely clickable commodity that simply failed to click last season. He'll either take off one day or he never will. He didn't really take a step back last year, he just treaded water.

Likewise, Stroman will probably never be in impact starter.

Never say never, with that plus plus slider and plus change he has a chance to be.

But I said "probably never". I don't even know if that counts!

what is wrong with the jays farm system? sure some of the failure is on the draft side, but you have to put in a solid effort to have all your picks turn into s*** piles.

It has to happen though. Sanchez and Stroman are the only two valuable trade pieces we have, and we have to fill holes at C, 2B, and SP.

C - free agent

2B - Trade BP pieces for a league average player

SP - free agent

Keep Stroman and Sanchez

Sanchez, Osuna, Norris have a huge upside.

I hope they understand that but people on here probably they never reach that upside because of the development system here

If we start 2014 with both Stroman and Sanchez I will be very surprised.

Yeah me too because I worry he'll strike out on his desired FA's again.

""Bernie Pleskoff from MLBPipeline.com gives his analysis of the Blue Jays top prospect Aaron Sanchez in an interview and says the big righty is more than deserving of his number 20 prospect ranking on MLB.com. Pleskoff projects him as a number two or maybe even a number one at the Major League level. Pleskoff also states that Sanchez’s command has been much better of late (even calls it “excellent”) in the Arizona Fall League after struggling his first couple of starts.""
