I'd actually prefer Garza to Ubaldo. He has a longer and more consistent track record of success, and has pitched well in the East in the past, plus you don't have to give up a pick.

I wouldn't mind Scott Kazmir either. He's a risk as well, but if you can get him for two years at 10-12 per he'd be a solid addition, and won't cost a compensation pick either.

Melky looked like he was moving pretty good in the spring. I'm more than willing to chalk it up to the tumor.

I went to a game in April and sat behind him in the bleachers and I was just like WTF? I just couldn't believe that this was a guy that was playing CF (albeit poorly) two years prior. He was just so fat and immobile. Seems like the Jays got sold a bill of goods but whether or not they could have anticipated it is not clear to me nor is it clear to me how much of it could be related to the tumour. Did the tumour prevent him from working out effectively? Did it somehow slow down his metabolism? Don't get me wrong, I'm super happy that he should be in better health next year but his upside will be severely limited if that health doesn't translate to him being in much better playing shape.

I don't mind Soto as platoon catcher. I think if you add a guy like Salty who can handle left handed pitching. Both guys get rotated out and stay fresh.

I don't want to see them in on Jimenez but I can see AA over reacting and getting a guy like that and over valuing him. Don't mind him on a 3 year deal likely will get more though.

Soto signed back with Rangers

2 strained hamstrings, a strained quad and a tumor in his back......Melky's going to rake next year.

He looked great in spring training, which I know must be taken with a grain of salt. If he gets back to it we'll be ok.

Difference is Garza also has a track record of arm issues, which if you take AA at face value basically rules him out.

Yeah man, he pulled his first hammy in the 2nd week of April.

Probably did it before Detroit. One of the images of this season that's burned into my mind is Rivera sending Melky around 3rd in Detroit and getting thrown out by a mile. Saw that one in person lol

I believe you're correct. ;)

P.S. I want no part of Garza, he's over-rated.

I actually like Garza, but he's probably going to make a lot of cash for someone who hasn't played enough the last few years

no one in their right mind would. Jays have enough fringe guys who could match Garza production for league minimum.

I've seen quite a lot of people suggest Garza over the last few years?!

have no idea why. sure, he's an ok 3 or 4, but not for the money he is going to get and the jays have 3,4 covered well enough.

if they are going to pay that kind of money it better be a number 1 or 2 guy.

Dickey

Morrow

Lewis/Hudson

Buehrle

Porcello

With lots of depth. I'm down with that.

Morrow wont make 25 starts which means they will need more than depth. Dickey could be anywhere from unhittable to unwatchable. will be interesting how many dingerz he gives up next year.

the only lock in the list is Buehrle for a solid season of 200+ innings of solid number 4 starts.

WAT??? Dickey pitched 16 games with a shoulder/neck strain, he was pretty good after that, once he could throw with velocity, much better. He's always good for well over 200 innings, Buehrle is what he is, no sign of regression, even after a horrible start. Morrow I agree, we'll see as per usual, after that there's Hutch/Stroman/Rogers and Nolin, nothing like the s*** we were throwing out there last year? Now if the Jays were to add Lewis/Hudson and or a Porcello, that's a lot f***ing better than last year??

Also redmond drabek and hippster happ.

Dickey is not a number 1. I think Stroman can be a solid 2 if he stays healthy, but he is not going to start 30 games in 2014. that would be a huge jump in innings and not going to happen. they are going to need to go out and get a front end guy. slot where they want, but they need another guy who can pitch 200 innings and have an ERA under 3.5.

as for being better than last year, they just need to stay healthy to be better, but a little better is not good enough.

I really wonder how much less pitching they would need if they had a real catcher? I know it's not all on JPA, but he's not helping the pitching much from behind the plate. having a catcher who is mechanically sound and not dead from the neck up could really help with getting some of the younger guys to the next level.

hutch getting an ass whooping.

I love Porcello in there (Janssen Trade?) I'd be happy with

Dickey

Morrow

Buehrle

Ubaldo

Porcello (maybe Messanger?)

Give us some nice options when the eventual injury pops up (Stroman, Hutch, Drabek, McGowan, Happ, Redmond). I'd be ok if any of those guys had to start a few games. In fact I'd be HAPPY if Stroman come up mid-season.

Obviously we need an SP and catching upgrade!

I don't think you get what I'm saying?

yes... I get it. you are rating what they have a higher than I am.

catcher

2nd base

1 or 2 starters

maybe a LF if Melky still cant play without roids.

who do they trade to fill the spots without making more holes?
