flafson Verified Member Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 (edited) I just read about 20 pages, I am now slightly addicted. Gruber do you feel that you might be addicted to this thread? I think the danger is very real. Keep mayor Ford far far away. I like Ford, he's a good mayor. Too bad he's a crack addict though. Edited March 18, 2014 by flafson
flafson Verified Member Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Damn, can't believe i said cock, at least it was funny
flafson Verified Member Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Yeah but he seems a little a shady didn't someone get killed over his video? You can say a lot of negative things about Ford but he does what 99.9% politicians don't do. He fixes problems he said he would and he saves money to the tax payer. I'd much rather have someone like him on the provincial level instead of the $267 billion dollar debt Ontario has. If you don't think that's a big number, California is the mother of all debts in the US, they have $144 billion debt. Ontario has population of 13 million people, California has 38 million people. That means California has $3,800 US debt per person while Ontario has $20,000 CAD debt per person. Anyway, you get the picture, sorry i got off topic. And sorry about the cock addiction.

I think the danger is very real. Keep mayor Ford far far away. Not addicted, just sticking to my opinion that Goins is our best internal option at 2B with an outside shot of having an average bat. He has the physicalities, with him it's recognition at the plate. Hopefully it will click for him with Seitzer and more PAs. Attack those 1-0 fastballs kid.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Is this now the longest thread in the history of the board??
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Pretty sure it is Santana thread hit 82 pages, that's the only one remotely close that I can find in the last few months.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Pretty sure it is Santana thread hit 82 pages, that's the only one remotely close that I can find in the last few months. The first Around Baseball (RIP <3) hit 309. The FHRC hit 190. And then it's this one, 139. So yeah, it's the longest normal, topic based, not specialized kind of thread.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Is this now the longest thread in the history of the board?? Goins may or may not stick, but his thread certainly has!
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 This thread is an abomination, much like our 2b position.
flafson Verified Member Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 This thread is an abomination, much like our 2b position. Could be worse, we could open a "Could Izturis stick?" thread.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Could be worse, we could open a "Could Izturis stick?" thread. Wouldn't generate as much debate. We're stuck with Izturis, like it or not.
flafson Verified Member Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 I just noticed, Goins is signing autographs with his right hand, meaning he's a righty who bats as a lefty. Is there a reason why he's not a switch hitter? Maybe in the minors someone told him he's not a good hitter so he should stick to one side of the plate?

I'm right handed and hit left. All sorts of people I know are the same.

He is supposed to bat as a righty. Quick someone tell him
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Is this uncommon or something? I'm right handed and hit left. All sorts of people I know are the same. It's very common among Canadians baseball players because of hockey. The way you hold your stick translates naturally to a lefty swing in baseball.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Goins having a Pedroia-esque day at the plate
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Seitzer obviously a God among hitting coaches (or Goins just had a good day)
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 OK this day just added another 50 pages to this thread
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Starting to piss me off. Never cheered against a Jay before but I am tempted just to shut people up
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Dude is gonna be in the majors for a long time, even if it's kind of disappointing how the Jays are setting him up to fail in his rookie season. Gift a 26 year old with a Darwin Barney ceiling a starting gig on a "contending" team, and you're setting him up for a big fall. Ease someone like Goins into the league as a reserve and in the worst case scenario you have a left handed John McDonald.

I'm a lefty who hits righty so i dunno i'm not surprised lol. Every lefty-hitting catcher, second baseman, third baseman and shortstop is a natural righty! I'm a 6'3", left handed second baseman when I play the field. I'm weird. Although I usually pitch lol
theblujay Verified Member Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Starting to piss me off. Never cheered against a Jay before but I am tempted just to shut people up Who are you trying to shut up? The overwhelming majority here hate Goins. Unless you're talking about fans outside this board lol
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 It's very common among Canadians baseball players because of hockey. The way you hold your stick translates naturally to a lefty swing in baseball. I hit RH in baseball but am LH in hockey and golf. My coach when I was very young saw me standing to hit LH and just turned me around to hit RH for whatever reason so that's how I learned to hit.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Uh, yeah. How the hell do they let you play 2B as a lefty? Do they simply not have enough bodies to field a team? I mean, I played 3B in TBall back in the day ... because I was the only one who could reach 1B on the fly, but ... you know, that's TBall. There's an obvious, legitimate reason lefties are banned from 3B/SS/2B. Pretty much. I play a bit of first too but I'm nearly exclusively a pitcher.

And by the way, i didn't even say anything today.

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Which could be done with a simple ignore listing. You wouldn't dare squirrel.
