Then how can you say what you are saying?

Wooooooooooooowa!!! Wow-ahhh wwwwweeee ahhhh!!!! Seriously how could you evaluate Goins without watching that DP? Come on, you didn't even watch the DP? Hey, did you see that DP Goins turned? He's an upper tier defensive 2B!

ITT: Ryan Goins is a 5 WAR Dustin Pedroia comp who should even be presented the remote opportunity for our 2B job in a year we intend to try and, y'know, f***ing win.

Wow, he's made two above average plays. He's great! It's nice that he was given a chance to showcase his plus arm at 2B but it's seriously the least important tool for the position. If your big point for Goins next season is his arm you should re-examine the way you evaluate 2B defense and it's worth.

Where the f*** do get off telling me how i evaluate the position? Where do you get this s*** from? Have you even read the posts?

What the f*** is going on? lol

Ya man, you said Goins should be on the bench next year because he's turned a nice DP today and has a better arm than Kawasaki. You've been killing it.

By definition a replacement level player isn't a MLB player. Having a AAA player as a starter is a pretty terrible worst case scenario. To fan the flames it's a pretty high probability outcome as well. But let's put all our eggs in the Goins basket because he's looked like a 2 WAR player after 9 games.

I feel like I'm repeating myself a lot on this thread.

I'll try to make this clear:

1. I DON"T WANT GOINS TO BE OUR STARTING 2B NEXT YEAR AS OF RIGHT NOW

2. I think Goins' defense is probably above average.

3. In the few ABs I've seen Goins has looked to have a good approach at the plate. (I know I said I hadn't watched a game in a month, but I have seen a few ABs of Goins and Gose in the last week.)

4. You guys are afraid that Goins will end up similar to Thames (AA pencils him in, he sucks). I still have some faith in AA, plus the two players aren't similar and I don't think its fair to evaluate the two situations as similar.

5. If AA can't sign/trade for a real 2B this offseason or he decides to use his money elsewhere (LF, C, SP...) and if he decides to fill 2B internally, then I think Goins should be considered, IF he continues to show something at the plate for the rest of the year. If Goins plays well enough to win the 2B job in ST, then I believe that AT WORST he will provide close to 0 WAR. This is a 2-3 win upgrade over what we got this year. I AM NOT OK WITH THAT.

6. I have a problem with you guys writing off a player before he even plays a game in the majors. Some of you without even seeing him.

7. I support all of the players on the Jays and hope they all surpass their expectations. (I would like the Jays to tank for the rest of the year though, so close losses).

8. If Goins is the starting 2B FOR THE RIGHT REASONS (We spent big money elsewhere [LF, C, SP], Goins played well enough to win the job in ST...ect.) I will be OK with it.

I never said that, but ok bud

Sorry, wasn't you. You did say that second doesn't require a strong arm. Sure if your Ryan Sandberg. Point is Kawasaki doesn't make those plays i previously described, and that's already three in only a short period.

Goins' floor is not replacement level. Why the f*** do people put so much weight in SSS. The guy has a 107 wRC+ and a .406 BABIP. My god if Ryan Goins is our starting 2B next season ugh.

If Goins is our starting 2B I'll be very disappointed in AA

Unless the org finds a back up replacement outside the org,Goins is the guy. Lets keep Kawasaki instead because he's a funny guy. A month ago you guys were ripping AA a new ******* for keeping the inferior Kawasaki around because he's a good "clubhouse guy",and today you are defending him over Goins who is clearly the better defender, just for argument sake.

5 WAR: Flafson or whoever's "we'd be 5 wins better off"

I hear he's even comparable to Roberto Alomar! Hot damn

Well he hasn't made 3 errors in one game yet, so he's at least better than Evan Longoria.

5 wins better off is 2-3 WAR

Would Goins have hit that walk off double that Kawasaki did back in May? Would Goins have hit that 2 run, game winning single in July? It's a fools errand to judge players in small samples and individual plays is about as small as it gets.

I'm not going to look back at posts but I'm pretty sure you've said in this thread that you wouldn't be upset with Goins as 2B next season

I won't be upset if its for the right reasons. (we spent big money elsewhere, didn't overpay in a trade, Goins played well in ST to win the job).

It doesn't require a strong arm. That's why Kawasaki is playing 2B and not 3B

Bro,Kawasaki doesn't make those plays, and that's three in only 9 games. Can it be anymore clearer?

hahahahahahahahahahaha............................

Are you feeling ok bro? How about we give Goins the same amount of playing time before we start comparing his "clutchness" to Kawasaki's.

OMFG

Who was ripping AA for keeping Kawasaki instead of Goins. I'm pretty sure we were all pretty thankful they had him when Reyes went down. I also don't really get why you keep going to the better defender, like you can even remotely evaluate defence over a 9 game sample. Kawasaki has also shown to have great fundamentals all over the diamond and in every facet of the game. Goins turns a DP and has a stronger arm and all of a sudden he has better fundamentals. Kawasaki was trained in Japan, where fundamentals are a part of every day life, he has shown to do the little things to the highest level at the highest level over 13 seasons of professional baseball. These 9 games of Goins sure have been great though.

Yes it is... I said 2B doesn't require a strong arm. My example for that, is Kawasaki has a noodle arm. He can't play 3B, because he has a noodle arm. He can play 2B, even though he has a noodle arm. Therefore, 2B doesn't require a strong arm

Good lord.

Are you feeling ok bro? You've done a lot of laughing and very little rational thinking.
