Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 More interesting in this is trying to guess who the ptbnl will be (we should actually have a contest for that). It's really hard to gauge Boni's value right now, but he didn't make it too far up the waiver ladder. You have to wonder if someone yet to clear waivers might be a primary target (like Wade Davis since Ventura is probably ready), or someone who's stock seems to have fallen like Christian Colon (although I assume they wouldn't make it ptbnl if that was the case). Fun note: This trade gives the Royals two Bonifacios...

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 At this point, I'm just going to asumme it's cash. It's such an addition by substraction that a decent minor leaguer in return though nice is almost too much to hope for. Wade Davis would make some sense though, since he's been pretty bad as a starter for them and will get 4.8M next year. Still has good upside, but KC probably doesn't want him in the pen at 4.8M.
ace3113 Verified Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 I think that's a bit of a pipe dream, but I would die of happiness. A legitimate prospect for Boni. Colon's stock has really fallen the last year or so. He's currently not in their top 10 prospects by most accounts. I think he could be a decent gamble for our black hole at second.

I would love this. Aside from a bad 2011 he's been good. Hasn't done a ton this year but has a low BABIP. Doesn't K much. Walks a bit.

It's such an addition by substraction that a decent minor leaguer in return though nice is almost too much to hope for. Cash and a 40-man spot. Boni was a replacement level player, there should be 5-6 guys that can replace him in the off-season.

I'd love that trade. I don't buy WD as a legit SP option but he can be used for spot starts and as a long man out of the pen effectively a la Rogers/CV.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Gregg Zaun One of them is enough It's going to be cash guys. I dunno, Davis would be a nice salary dump for them, I could see them liking it.
theblujay Verified Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 I don't care if its nothing. It's still a great trade.
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Im literally shocked AA did this. The first step is admitting failure!
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2013 Author Posted August 14, 2013 #LoViste's gone bro? Yeah bro, #NoLoViste? AA is beginning to assume his guilt.
Cooler Heads Prevail Verified Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 I'm pretty surprised AA shed a spot and that contract, thank you Dayton Moore. Two months overdue but a good move. Bono never fit this team very well, we already had enough speed and need guys who can get on base ( not strikeout ) and/or play good defence. I suspect they are trying to sign Davis given that Gose appears to be a bust so far. Now if only we could have gotten them to take Cabrera as well.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2013 Author Posted August 14, 2013 Thank f***! What a useless piece of s***. This means a lot from an AA standpoint - maybe he'll be willing to give up on JPA too. Are you dreaming?

Tuco Verified Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Mike Wilner is such a tool. Just on the Fan and said this "Even at Jurrickson Profar's max ceiling he wont be anywhere close to the player Jose Bautista is". Since when did Wilner become a scout?
Cooler Heads Prevail Verified Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Thank f***! What a useless piece of s***. This means a lot from an AA standpoint - maybe he'll be willing to give up on JPA too. Actually, I think once the season is over he may surprise you and "give up" on JPA. All the signs are there that it might happen. JPA will attract too much money in an arbitration situation because of his power numbers. My prediction, they sign a catcher in the off season and then trade JPA. I think the JPA situation is all about finding the best solution for the team and the player, without making anyone look bad in the process. This also helps them possibly get something of value back in a trade; maybe not a lot but something, maybe JPA is an extra piece added to make a trade work.
Tuco Verified Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Thank f***! What a useless piece of s***. This means a lot from an AA standpoint - maybe he'll be willing to give up on JPA too. I highly doubt it. They seem totally delusional on JP's talent and love the fact they sell alot of Arencibia jerseys and hes popular amongst the community.
Errorcebia Verified Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Don't the Royals want to make the playoffs?
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Don't the Royals want to make the playoffs? Boni may not be useful for us right now, but his speed could win KC a playoff game or critical games down the stretch coming in late as a pinch runner.
Jays Verified Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 maybe JPA is an extra piece added to make a trade work. Johnson, Reyes, Buehrle and Arencibia to the phils for prospects... but they won't do it unless JPA is in there.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Boni may not be useful for us right now, but his speed could win KC a playoff game or critical games down the stretch coming in late as a pinch runner. I'm not really sure what Boni gives them that they don't already have in Jarod Dyson but if Dayton Moore wants him that's his perogative.
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 thehurl should be a pro scout. He called the fact that Bonifacio couldn't handle the infield before the season even started. Clearly he's a better MLB scout than whoever the Blue Jays employ. Once this fact become apparent, it was fairly obvious that Bonifacio was nothing more than a poor man's Rajai Davis (yuck!).
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Just when he was putting everything together.. now this set back. I'm excited for Pillar and the great saki is back!
Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 He was actually in a bit of slump and was starting to strike out a lot again. This could be a blessing in disguise because now we don't have to witness a second half free fall. His numbers look great right now and hes very trade-able. True, last 10 games: .231 .286 .359 .645 39 AB, 14 SO, 3 BB Though I think the SO's are about on par with the rest of his season.
