fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 If I had to guess I'd say it's the Phills
flafson Verified Member Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Does it mean AA put half the team on waivers?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Tigers or braves.. Derosa value is low. He should stay here one more year.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Maybe he can be the new Mike McCoy. Is he an adorable vertically-challenged dirtbag? Not sure about adorable, but certainly the other two
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Jays could save couple of dollars trading DeRosa.....He will stay
The_DH Verified Member Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Valid point I don't know what the organization thinks of him, he could just be an org guy at this point on the 40 man because we needed infielders. I guess if he gets called up in September will dictate that I would rather see him play than Kawasaki though , if Derosa is traded I think AA asks derosa if he wants to go. There can't be anything much in return.
Save Dtieb Verified Member Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 De Rosa to the Braves makes a lot of sense. Let him walk to a contender who needs an upgrade on the bench. If a trade is worked out, I can't see it being any more than a 25-26 year old in A+, AA. Non-Prospect organizational filler. Kawasaki would be called up I would imagine.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 AA would have traded D-Ro at the deadline if trading him was the plan. They'll pull him back. AA just will accept DeRosa for Trout.......the only way
Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 AA loves him some horrible bench bats... I fully expect DeRosa's spot to be filled with another Boni type
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Michael Young is going to be a Blue Jay next year. Of this I have no doubt. Over Loaiza dead body
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 I kind of feel like these types of situations are more harmful than they are helpful. 30-40 games at the end of the year should really not change the organization's plan for a player at all, but it does. Like spring training. I personally hope we're never in a situation where we need someone like Goins as a 25-man roster fixture. Even 1 game apparently changes their plan for a player (see: Sean Nolin).
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Even 1 game apparently changes their plan for a player (see: Sean Nolin). That summarized our season pretty nicely. Incompetence on every level.
Save Dtieb Verified Member Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Even 1 game apparently changes their plan for a player (see: Sean Nolin). Sam Dyson as well.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 2IP lol Sam Dyson as well. Performing well now or burn in hell.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Sam Dyson as well. Of course the Marlins' conversion of Dyson has actually gone fairly well. Gotta love our player development system lol
Save Dtieb Verified Member Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 My mistake Dyson played 2 games, but a total of 0.2 IP. He's got decent stats in Miami's farm.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Know anything about his GB%? He hasn't given up a dinger. His line looks like Hendo's. 58.8% in AA this year. http://minorleaguecentral.com/player?pid=473879
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Looks like Henderson Alvarez 2.0. Alvarez would look pretty nice in our system right about now.
Save Dtieb Verified Member Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 I think AA asks derosa if he wants to go. There can't be anything much in return. Why not move him to a contender. Give him the chance to help someone off the bench. Maybe AA values his option though. I think its very possible it works out like the first quote. It's up to De Rosa. AA will comply. I have no beef either way.
Save Dtieb Verified Member Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 I'd easily trade Buehrle straight-up for him. Hell yeah, in a heartbeat.
flafson Verified Member Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Derosa is fairly useful as a utility guy, not to mention the fact that he produces. He has as many RBI as he does hits, i'm sure quite a few teams would want that on their bench right now.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 I'd easily trade Buehrle straight-up for him. Easy yes. Id even pay some of Buehrle's salary to make it happen.

If there is a decent asset to be had move him and pick up a similar player in FA.
Caper Verified Member Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 I would just ask the team to take Oliver as well.
Caper Verified Member Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Just wondering can a team use a guy like Derossa to start a much bigger trade? Could the Jays add Josh Johnson EE to the trade and get equal parts back from the other team?

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Blue Jays will not make DeRosa waiver trade DeRosa was claimed off waivers Wednesday, but the Jays hold an inexpensive $750,000 on him for 2014 and are very likely to exercise it. The 38-year-old utilityman is batting .231/.320/.449 with seven home runs and 29 RBI in 169 plate appearances this season for Toronto. The reward for DeRosa is almost nil. I see no need to trade it.
KSaw Verified Member Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Of course he is moved. Trade for PTBNL or let go on waivers. The Blue Jays need to clear up multiple 40-man roster spots before September 1st and more after the season. They are log jammed badly.
