SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 There just isn't enough time left in the season. Our lineup right now is enough to be considered full tank mode, tbh. Our pitching is enough to cancel out Lawrie and EE. It's just too late. We can hope Rodon slips, but honestly, at #5, I'm confident we're gonna get an impact prospect no matter what. #1 Sanchez #2 Draft pick #3 Osuna #4 Norris #5 Davis With guys like Barreto and Tellez and Brentz and Tirado, plus guys like Stroman and Jimenez and Nolin probably graduating. That's pretty damn nice. Here we come! #2017

SAAviour Verified Member Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 You completely lost me at 'call up Rickey'. I lost you? Ricky Romero, you know the once good pitcher now s*** storm down in AAA, I'm guessing he might be good for a loss or two....I mean win in this threads case.
baseballsss Verified Member Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 clearly AA gunna take some random pick no ones ever heard of or shouldn't of picked that high to begin with. Why do you people even try to predict it..
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 25, 2013 Author Posted August 25, 2013 How low can they go!? http://s24.postimg.org/m5an84cxx/image.png
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Third is definitely within reach, and I feel like second shouldn't even be ruled out entirely (however unlikely it may be) if Miami goes on a mini-run and the Jays continue to tank. I'm drooling over the idea of getting a top-5 pick.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Imagine getting the 3rd pick, and then Rogers announces the firing of Beeston and AA the first week of October? Following the team would be fun again! Absolutely boner-inducing. Honestly, it's a shame that AA tarnished his reputation. Things looked so promising after the first two or three seasons. And then, he inexplicably went all-in and suddenly fell in love with (and over-valued) relievers, despite their year-to-year volatility. If only he'd stuck with HIS plan another season or two... we could be looking at a completely different scenario right now. I digress, he's worn out his welcome here and does need to go - you're right. It will likely take a few seasons to repair what he lost. People have lost their jobs for less. Beeston was always useless. He should be nowhere near this team - I vote Cuba, where he can live out his remaining days fishing and smoking all the cigars he wants, whilst doing nothing Jays-related.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Meh, he's not a high school arm anymore, why would the Jays bother to draft him again anyways?
TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Check out this effortless throwing motion to 2nd base. PG record 91mph to 2nd with a 1.73 pop time! Major League average is 2.0. the glove to the ground is disturbing though. Reminds me a lot of TdA after his injury but way more pronounced. Lots of time to improve that though.

Protect the body, focus on the bat, and get the investment to the big leagues quicker.

Being a high school guy I'd probably catch him for a year in the minors at least. You could be right though, if he goes top 3 you aren't paying him that bonus to spend the full 5 years in the minors learning how to catch properly. He's been bothered by a thumb injury already so chances are you are correct though.
ace3113 Verified Member Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 If we can hang on for the "reverse win" we would move into sole possession of 5th place. (Milwaukee is currently leading Cinci 3-1 in the 9th)
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 White Sox are beating Rangers too!
theblujay Verified Member Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Freakin' Jays always finding a new way to lose (win).
SAAviour Verified Member Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 f***in idiots. A sweep of the Stros would have been amazing.
ace3113 Verified Member Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Thankfully for the tank the Angels and Giants are both winning. 1. Houston .336 2. Miami .383 3. Chicago W .409 4. Toronto (Comp) Anywhere within the top 10 and I'm very pleased. Top 5 would be amazing, but it remains pretty unlikely. Realistically, how the teams are slotted right now seems fairly accurate. The Giants and Angels are probably better than Toronto, especially with Bautista out. Sum pitching fWAR + position fWAR to date: Minnesota - 17.9 Milwaukee - 17.9 Toronto - 21.7 San Francisco - 24.1 Los Angeles - 26.8 I could see the Padres and/or the Phillies really tanking though. They could complicate things.
