He didn't really say much, he said most of the rumors about us are false and he's not going to give up established players.

But Sanchez, Stroman, Nolin and/or Osuna

Will have to listen to FAN 590 on demand

I swear to God, if he doesn't trade a reliever or three I'm dumbfounded...

I've seen enough of Ricky this year, personally.

most of us had seen enough of him in spring training.

Ricky to be called up soon?

Doesn't sound like it...said Romero was impressive in last start but AA wants to see few more of those starts.

Happ had a good outing, meeting this afternoon to see where his next start will be. Morrow to start throwing soon. Santos impressive also but AA wants few more of those outings to see if he can go 2 innings or 2 games in row.

Jays looking to add at deadline not subtract. Now for now, doesn't sound like he is moving prospects.

He also said that we will probably be going 7 in the pen soon.

It's almost like we don't have a choice. Santos will be ready soon, not to mention Lincoln deserves to be in the big leagues.

He is. You got to wonder if he doesn't care about the long term....

Why would he at this point? He went all in, all he should care about now is contending by next season, because anything short of that will cost him his job. Not that I agree with this, but what most of us would like to see and what he will actually do are probably worlds apart at this point.

Probably because he won't be in his position long term...hopefully.

I still say it doens't matter if AA sees the team as sellers or buyers, the same people who put Bonifacio as the clincher on the Miami deal are making the talent assessments, so the team is screwed whatever they do.

Like, how can you just flat out reject the idea of moving Johnson, Janssen, Oliver, maybe Davis to re-stock the farm?

Incompetence?

I feel like AA's Achilles' heel is that he doesn't truly understand the game of baseball - and a lot of that has to do with the fact that he never played it. This doesn't go for all GM's but AA in particular.

Why don't we wait until August 1st before we hack AA's trade deadline job.

Though I do admit, if we don't sell some pieces my first foot will be firmly off the AA bandwagon and it won't take much more to jump off completely.

I actually think beeston is at fault for this mess. AA seems like a prospect whore to me and I'm sure he was given orders to go all in.

No, it seems AA is incapable of incorporating any sort of statistical data when looking for players, whether it be sabermetrics, aging curves, player values, prospect attrition rates etc...

This is a more likely case as to why AA is not a very good GM.

This board has no sense of the politics that are involved with being a GM.

What GM's say in public and actually end up doing are two different things. Get a clue, people. :)

It's not even about any kind of message being sent by trading veteran players, just basic numbers. With guys coming off of injuries, there's going to be a roster crunch and just not room to keep everybody.

Not sure about that. Some of the comments made suggest that the prospects were just seen a future trade chips for the right time.

Wish the team was run in a more rational manner, with a balance of highly paid core players, young controllable talent, and a pipeline of prospects ie. the Cardinals way.

That's basically where I stand. It doesn't even really bother me that they made those awful offseason trades, because at the end of the day the morons running this team would f*** things up colossally regardless. All that can save this organization right now is a regime change from Beeston down.

To be honest, I don't even find the offseason deals all that awful. Inefficient to be sure, but not awful. The baffler is making those deals, and then handing JPA and Boni fulltime, unlose-able jobs, not having another SS on the 40, etc.

In terms of regime change, they need to bring a guy like Tim Leiweke, whose pretty much first order of business was to pack up all the 1960s Leaf nostalgia and challenge the Leafs to build a new legacy. The best thing the Jays could do is basically burn down/fire anybody with any sentiment/connection to the "glory" years.

Dickey and Thole for Syndergaard, D'Arnaud, Buck, and Barreto(?) was not awful? Come on, I know you are better than that

Posted
I would find that very difficult to believe given his performance here.

Being a MENSA means a mind that works at a high level, that's all. Doesn't necessarily mean success in the world of business

Many MENSA live in basements

Just taking issue with your conviction that AA's mind doesn't work at a high level

There's every reason to believe he means what he said. He f***ing bought at the deadline last year.

He's such a terrible interview. He never divulges information and speaks in cliches. And it's not just him, a lot of GM's are like that. I don't think you can take anything they say without a grain of salt.

Heck, in this very interview after he said he wouldn't trade any established players he also said, "unless a deal makes all the sense in the world."

Posted
We still have Barreto, thank God. It was Bucerra. There's a real chance Syndergaard will be better than Dickey as soon as next year.

I won't ever be able to watch Syndergaard pitch, EVER
