Also from that: Dickey has allowed the most runs out of every pitcher in the league this year.

lol @ that trade..

Keep in mind Dickey has had a back injury as well. Also, the article doesn't consider the fact that Rasmus may get resigned before he reaches free agency.

Oh give me a break. Nobody thought Dickey would be THIS bad when the trade was made.

But everyone knew the trade was bad.

We were all pretty f***ing pissed over the thought of trading d'Arnaud for Dickey, then it just became freaking hysterical when we all found out that AA was tossing our best pitching prospect in the deal as well.

DIsliked the trade from the start, only thing that would make it okay was if we made the playoffs

It was as bad as David Cone for Jeff Kent..... one worked the other didn't.

Liked that article, very good summary of this season. And I agree that all that's left to do is to retool for next season and hope for better results. Hopefully AA is done acquiring aging, expensive stars and can focus this offseason on filling out the roster with some depth pieces.

Never trade for a guy coming off a CY Young year. The time to trade for Dickey was 2011.

Always trade for a guy with the benefit of hindsight... that's what I say!

Never trade for a guy with a euphemism for penis as his last name... That seems to be a good rule to follow.

I'm presuming somewhere in Venezuela or Cuba, they call their cocks "Romeros".

Dickey, Johnson and Wang didn't exactly blow away expectations.

I would say there was a very very small number of people that didn't like the trade.

Can't believe we traded two A prospects for Dickey. What a f***ing nightmare. Syndergaard is going to be a monster.

I hated it at the time, and I really hope that most people that paid even the slightest bit of attention did too... It was a gawdawful trade.

THREE. THREE prospects... Wuilmer Becerra is not nothing, just the lowest guy on the totem pole.

Let's not also forget that we did trade John Buck to the Mets in that deal as well, who had some value as well.

The trade is barely benefitting the Mets--Syndegaard is the only one who's doing well in the trade. D'Arnaud is still hurt--and is looking like a bust because of his inability to stay healthy.

90% of the old forum blew up at the time of the trade. I actually remember it vividly. It was not hard to realize that this trade was going backfire big time.

Becerra's a long way to the majors--I mean, he's in the Gulf league.

Are you f***ing kidding me? Srsly? Unless you have terminal cancer and are going to die before April of next year you should maybe have a BIT more of a grasp of future value. If you do have terminal cancer, have you considered cooking and dealing meth?

what went wrong? bad trade, no doubt

there was enough talent on the team to be the class of MLB

bad start killed the season, and why bad start, my theory is bad preparation.... spring training was a joke, the team had bad fundamentals from the start

What went wrong is that we can not develop players in our minor league system. It's not fair to say that the Dickey trade was a rip off, because even if these players pan out and have great careers, how do you know that they would be just as good if we kept them? There is something seriously wrong with the coaching and development staff in this organization. All our players suck, and all our good players are not homegrown Blue Jays. We haven't produced a superstar player since Green and Delgado! That was almost 20 years ago now.

I agree to that statement. And D'arnaud is technically not homegrown for the Jays anyways. He did progress well here...as well as sustain injuries.
