Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Hopefully he's just getting started. Still getting used to letting his arm/lower half lose
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2013 Author Posted July 10, 2013 Wasn't sure if it had been posted. Also, I can never remember the tag for embedding tweets.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2013 Author Posted July 10, 2013 Hopefully he's just getting started. Still getting used to letting his arm/lower half lose Yeah hopefully. The farm system is so barren right now, the team can hardly afford another bust.
Nox Verified Member Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 The farm system is so barren right now, the team can hardly afford another bust. Indeed. Perhaps this regime shouldn't have invested ~80% of their draft resources on pitching...
ReturnOfTheYeti Verified Member Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 I saw this yesterday I'd kind of give the guy a mulligan for the time being. He's only had 3 IP and he was off last year with the foot fracture. I'd give them the chance to work on his mechanics, delivery, strength, etc... before pronouncing him a bust. Just IMO.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2013 Author Posted July 10, 2013 Indeed. Perhaps this regime shouldn't have invested ~80% of their draft resources on pitching... And then taking that pool of pitching prospects and reducing it to just two guys by trading everyone not named Osuna or Sanchez. Talk about putting all your eggs in one basket and then punching a hole in the basket.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 The strategy of drafting injured guys continues to not work too, I hope AA and Co. abandon that. They're not getting great bargains to begin with (maybe a player falls half a round) and a lot of the pitchers they draft/acquire end up getting hurt again. Stilson Dyson Smoral Murphy help me
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 there is still hope for Stilson yeah, as a reliever but .................the relievers aren't impact players (Mo, Chapman, Kimbrel)
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 This doesn't mean anything to me. He has barely pitched. Tell me a couple years you're not impressed with then it will mean something. Exactly, how the hell can anyone be impressed with a 6-11 190 left handed pitcher who's been recovering from injuries. He is raw and needs hundreds of innings to fulfill his potential. His velocity will come especiallt if he goes on the delbar program.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2013 Author Posted July 18, 2013 Mortimer retweeted this from one of his BP colleagues today: Jays fans will also be happy to hear that Matt Smoral was better today. FB 90-93 topped out 94. Threw a couple nice back door sliders
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2013 Author Posted July 18, 2013 (Tweet)tweetnumber(/tweet) replace brackets with square brackets. Square brackets. That's the part I always get wrong.
