Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2013 Author Posted July 25, 2013 Alfredo Griffin, Tony Fernandez, Damaso Garcia, Juan Guzman, Junior Felix, Carlos Delgado... Damaso Garcia Jr is a good friend of mine. We used to play soccer together.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2013 Author Posted July 25, 2013 Red Sox Looking "Pretty Hard" At Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez The Red Sox are looking "pretty hard" at free agent Cuban righty Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez, president and CEO Larry Lucchino said on WEEI's Dennis & Callahan show this morning (Tim Healey has quotes). "The auctioning can begin," said Lucchino. Noting that GM Ben Cherington guards the team's prospects "like his first-born child," Lucchino explained, "Reaching into your pocket for your wallet is much easier." Lucchino confirmed the Sox are searching for rotation and bullpen help. Gonzalez, 26, is expected to sign soon. On Monday, MLB.com's Jesse Sanchez said he's down to five teams. MLB.com's Ken Gurnick reported Tuesday that the Dodgers, who had been heavily linked to Gonzalez, are not pursuing him. Earlier this week, Ben Badler of Baseball America provided a scouting report on Gonzalez (subscription required and recommended). Badler noted that "projections vary significantly" on the righty, ranging from a big league ready No. 3 starter on the high end to a long reliever on the low end. Red Sox, No Jays

Mods; Is this not the exact type of poster we started this board to get away from? I understand that you want to keep a variety of opinions on the board, but this is basically Lee Marvin. He basically posts the same thing in every single thread in an attempt to bait forum members into an argument. I could make a form for him... This is totally typical of "Insert dumb pet name for Org, GM, or manager". He refuses to "Insert the topic of the thread". I guess he's too busy "Insert some topical bone of contention among the fans".
ace3113 Verified Member Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Yesterday I heard on the radio "He's like Cespedes but at SS" Scouting Report (Tulo kind of frame) http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1714474-complete-scouting-profile-on-cuban-middle-infielder-alexander-guerrero Nice. Could be our answer at second base.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2013 Author Posted July 25, 2013 Nice. Could be our answer at second base. NO. AA don't like Cubans anymore, after Adeiny's failure
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Nice. Could be our answer at second base. You'd think he'd be at the top of AA's list. Multiple years of control, relatively cheap and doesn't require assets. I'd love to see both Guerrero and Gonzalez in Jays uniforms asap.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2013 Author Posted July 25, 2013 KLaw on Alfredo Gonzalez Haven't seen except a little video. Have talked to several scouts who did, general reports seem to have him as a likely above-average MLB starter, fastball up to 96, plus slider, four pitches, arm works. I can't imagine dealing with the inflation in Cuban free agents, but he's got to be worth $40MM+ in this market.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2013 Author Posted July 27, 2013 Amaro got him 6 yrs $50M+ lol Cuban RHP Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez and Philadelphia Phillies have agreed on six-year deal worth more than $50M, club source tells Y! Sports.
digiblader Verified Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 At least the Phillies kept him away from Boston.
Cooler Heads Prevail Verified Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Alfredo Griffin, Tony Fernandez, Damaso Garcia, Juan Guzman, Junior Felix, Carlos Delgado... I guess the younger posters don't remember when we were the best team in baseball signing these guys. Even George Bell was pretty much a steal from Philly that had the same roots.
kgm1 Verified Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 to spend 50 + mil on a prospect even if you really like him you need to have the money . I doubt AA has that right now .
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 $50 over 6 years is a steal right here
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 $50 over 6 years is a steal right here How can you say that when he hasn't thrown a single pitch?
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 How can you say that when he hasn't thrown a single pitch? I'm just going to assume that you're being sarcastic on this one.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2013 Author Posted July 27, 2013 AA, improve the damn rotation.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 AA, improve the damn rotation. The talent's there bro, just not the results.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 The talent's there bro, just not the results. Talent my ass...we have over the hill one hit wonders on our team. We need to dump the old and bring in younger talent.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Talent my ass...we have over the hill one hit wonders on our team. We need to dump the old and bring in younger talent. Don't shoot the messenger. AA said this, go yell at him.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2013 Author Posted July 27, 2013 The talent's there bro, just not the results. Let me guess! Talents like: Syndergaard, Nicolino and HenAlvarez
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2013 Author Posted July 27, 2013 Tell me again how Dickey, Johnson, or Buehrle are one hit wonders? -Dickey is old -JJ is hurt -Buerhle is only useful to rest the other pitchers on your team (+200 mediocry innings)
FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 The talent's there bro No, it's not.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 There are still some other nice IFAs out there at least, I guess. Hinojosa, Despaigne.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2013 Author Posted July 27, 2013 There are still some other nice IFAs out there at least, I guess. Hinojosa, Despaigne. Hinojosa and Alexander Guerrero. Alfredo Despaigne isn't free agent, The Cuban government granted him a permission to play outside of Cuba.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Hinojosa and Alexander Guerrero. Alfredo Despaigne isn't free agent, The Cuban government granted him a permission to play outside of Cuba. Not Alfredo, sadly. Odrisamer. Odrisamer Despaigne stats Guerrero would be nice. Siverio kinda sucks. Aldemis Diaz isn't bad.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2013 Author Posted July 27, 2013 Why would they do that him and nobody else? Community work and blah blah blah. The other players earn 20 dollars by month.
