(What is this, throwback season? First Pettite signs a major league contact, then Colon wins AL Pitcher of the Month, and now Manny Ramirez signs with a club that is serious about using him on an MLB team?) Congratulations to Reds starter Homer Bailey for throwing 2013's first no-hitter against the Giants! The no-no was his 2nd of his career (first September 28, 2012 vs. Pirates) which means he's thrown the last 2 no hitters in baseball! He struck out 9 and walked only Gregor Blanco, who ironically made the last out by grounding out to 3rd. The Reds took the game at home by a score of 3-0. Coors Field was the sight of a shutout, as Clayton Kershaw blanked the Rockies across all 9 innings to mark his 3rd complete game (2nd shutout) striking out 8 along the way. The Rockies scattered 4 hits, but none of them were off of Michael Cuddyer's bat, as he went 0/4 and saw his 27 game hit streak come to an end, but the hit streak was a Rockies franchise record. Yasiel Puig went 3/5 with a homer, continuing his tear on MLB pitching, improving his line to .443/.473/.745 on the season with 8 homers in 106 ABs. Rays ace David Price has made his first start since May 15, blanking Houston across 7 innings while striking out 10, to help lead the Rays to an 8-0 victory. Tigers: Max Scherzer looks for win #13, to become the first 13-0 starter since Roger Clemens did it back in 1986. He has won 7 of his last 8 starts and has 5 complete games this year Scherzer has some cool feats this year incluing yeilding a career-best 6 hits per 9, and striking out at least 6 per game in all his starts Rick Porcello will be suspended 6 games because of a hit by pitch to Ben Zobrist, in retaliation to the Fernando Rodney up-and-in pitch to Miguel Cabrera Jays: The Toronto batting trio of Encarnacion, Lind and JP look to break back into the lineup after missing two games due to injuries. AA feels confident that they should be back ASAP and roster moves are not needed Chein-Ming Wang was designated for assignment after his awful start. Todd Redmond has been called up, and will be starting on Saturday if he's not used. The Jays praying that he could be brought in for a multi-inning task to prevent him from starting After going 7/52, Bautista has gone on a tear proving his worth before the All-Star voting comes to an end going 9/17 with 3 homers. He's done well against the Tigers righty, going 6/11 with a homer against him in his career. Bautista's currently 3rd in AL OF voting, beating out Markakis and Hunter so far for the last OF spot. G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 How we win this: Reyes leadoff triple wipes out Cabrera at the legs. Back tweaked and Cabrera is out for 2 days. Adam Lind rifles a ball at Scherzer causing a painful but non-injuring hand problem requiring him to come out of the game but he's fine for his next start against someone else. No-decision means his perfect W-L record persists. (look, I want to win, not seriously injure the poor guy) JJ throws 6 acceptable innings BP shuts down Fielder and Vmart Arencibia with 4K and a costly passed ball Bautista 2 run blast in the 8th wins it Casey with the save It's f'n simple!!!

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Jesus, everything below 4 in our lineup is trash. Scherzer is going to carve us up. No he won't. See my plan @ post 5.

Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Glad to have Lind back... Hope Edwin is back by Friday

fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2013 Author Posted July 3, 2013 Do you prefer socks or losing games? I choose socks. Haha socks are only temporary to Jose's success! Now he's safe to go back since he discovered his groove
backontop Verified Member Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Unlike last night with Lind back and JJ pitching, we have a chance. How Ironic, I would have bet the bank last night we would have lost, yet they led 4-0 after one inning.
admin Site Manager Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Our 6,7,8,9 hitters have combined to hit .215/.256. That's embarrassing and unaccceptable.
backontop Verified Member Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Max Shererzer ain't going 20-0. He is due for a loss. What better time for that great 12-0 pitcher to FINALLY lose his first game!

JohnnyLonghorn Verified Member Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Shame we let the game get away yesterday, its gonna be difficult to pick up a win with Shertzer on the mound and it won't get any easier tomorrow. 6-9 are black holes, I don't think any of them are hitting even .230. What date will it be that we actually field our starting opening day lineup (with Lawrie)? Having Boni & Izturis both playing is becoming increasingly tiresome.

backontop Verified Member Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Admins comment above is one of many reasons why we are no more than a .500 team. I seen that in April, I.E. their 6 thru 9 hitters were awful. Over and over again. I've seen great teams since the 1960's and none of them had such weak batters in the 6th and 7th and even 8th position as we do.
BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 I gotta feeling JJ pitches pretty well tonight. Scherzer will K eleven. Might win this.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2013 Author Posted July 3, 2013 Let's go Scherzer That's the spir..... Wait a minute.....
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 GCL Sergio Santos IP, H, 2K's Smoral 2IP, 3H, ER, K Barreto 1-3
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 On the plus side, all of Johnson's peripherals are suddenly looking pretty decent. For the last month, he's been 2010 Josh Johnson. The velo is solid and his SwStr % is the highest it's been in years, and the Ks are there.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Jays signed Hollon ~400K http://www.bluejaysmessageboard.com/threads/787-Blue-jays-signed-Clinton-Hollon-467-280?p=80132#post80132
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 His ERA is nowhere near his FIP. BABIP, HR/FB and LOB are all pretty inflated.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 The .353 BABIP is ridiculously inflated. He seems to be RTTM and it's a good thing

Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
