Chris Paul to Phoenix should make them interesting.

James Harden supposedly pushing hard for a trade. If I was Houston I’d move him and do something different

Brooklyn lol.

While the Raptors actually try to put together a functional team, most of the rest of the GMs play fantasy ball hoarding random stars. The ball will suffer trauma being battled over by Irving and Harden. If he goes there, whatever the hell the overhyped season win total ends up being, I'd bet the under. So actually I kinda hope the Nets do pick him up.

The Suns move was pretty good though.

Bucks pushing all their chips in too.

NBA moves are bananas.

Apparently Harden turned down $50M per year?

Jrue Holiday - Bogdan - Middleton - Giannis - Brook

Is a reallllly good lineup and a big improvement in playoff basketball. They probably have a mid-level exception they could still use on someone like Serge too. I think Giannis is gonna stay put, reading the tea leaves here.

The Bucks' moves feel like what the Raptors did acquiring Leonard. Milwaukee isn't exactly the most desirable location for NBA players. So the Bucks go all in this year. If it works, it works. Then year after next either they manage to keep the players or do a major reset but at least in that reset there will be a ton of cap space to work with. I think it's about as good of a position the team can be in.

I dunno, kind of feels very different. They seem to have given up a lot more for Jrue Holiday than Toronto gave up for Leonard. Toronto took a calculated risk and part of that risk was on the PR side (dumping DeRozan). Milwaukee seems to be reacting to an awkward situation they find themselves in which is partly the team's doing. And they are overpaying for Holiday, right? So it makes sense in the situation with Giannis, taking one big swing next season, but ideally they wouldn't even be in this situation. And if Giannis leaves they are out three first rounders and two pick swaps in the future... it seems like a risky position and on the downside it could lead to years of mediocrity.

*edit - unless Giannis is extending with Milwaukee. Then this is fine. The way the NBA works you would then have to consider the Holiday deal in relation to Giannis getting locked in. Like evaluating the PG trade as part of landing Kawhi.

All I know is that we have Leonard to thank for this, twice. He comes here relatively cheaply then forces the Clippers to trade a bunch of picks. Now draft picks are devaluing faster than the U.S. Dollar. Makes the Raptors look genius and we know the front office doesn't play those games.

Just saw they’re doing a play-in tournament to involve the 9th and 10th seeds. So in the East you’re talking about the 25-47 Wizards last year and the 23-42 Hornets. Yikes

As a lifelong Bluejay fan forever but one that only watches when they’re in playoff contention, I know fans like me are the problem that make these horrible decisions possible

The play-in tournament during a normal season is a ridiculous idea. There is no incentive to getting the 8th seed in the NBA. It's not a crapshoot. It's basically a guaranteed sweep or best case maybe a gentleman's sweep, especially in a non bubble environment where homecourt advantage exists again. It made sense to do it this season due to the pandemic, but can't believe they are continuing it.

If they want to prevent tanking, make it simple. The 9th seeds in each conference get the highest odds in the draft lottery. Followed by 10th, 11th etc. Of course then you give s***** 7th and 8th seed teams the incentive to tank but that might be a better scenario then half the league tanking for last place.

Another way to prevent this play-in tournament is if no one watches it. I don't think that'll be a problem outside of the fans of the teams involved.

I can't see any team tanking OUT of the playoffs just for a slightly higher chance at a high draft pick. Give the 9th seed like a 5% higher chance than the 15th seed or something. It's enough to encourage teams not to tank, but not enough to prevent them from giving young kids a look, etc.

You don't have a team... you float on your fairy cloud like Wonder Boy, ya knob jockey.

By Wonder Boy, are you referencing the video game character? Does he float on clouds?
