The Raptors are going to sign him to a max contract this offseason, too!

I doubt it. My feeling is Masai doesn't want him but he knows how much of a "Raptor" he is and how much teammates like him so he is just going to let him get to FA. My guess is he will try to sign another player and then tell Demar there isn't enough cap space to sign him lol.

I dunno about that. He re-signed Ross and kept Casey around. Masai just might not be very smart.

So our gm is a pussy. Great.

He's probably a lot like AA with strengths in soft skills rather than in rigorous analysis. He can work the phones, he can surprise you with some of the trades he pulls off but he isn't necessarily very deep in his understanding. Both would probably have been elite GMs in another era but might be a bit behind the times in this one (though not flat out bad by any stretch).

Yeah those look bad but I don't think that outweighs all the other great moves he has made. People around the game think he is really smart so I'll defer to them.

Raptors have a pretty big analytic staff I'm pretty sure so I wouldn't call him AA. Not sure why Derozan is still on the team though as analytics hate him.

I think he would serve best in a President of Basketball Operations role with a more analytical day-to-day GM.

Masai hasn't made that many big trades besides trading Rudy Gay for a bunch of bench pieces. Guy has been ultra conservative which is the opposite of AA.

AA has had some very conservative offseasons. I'm not saying the comparison would hold up to rigorous analysis but on that point I'd argue that AA has been mostly conservative with the notable exception of two attempts (one failed, one successful) at going all in. Masai, I assume, would probably do something similar if he started feeling some heat and needed to make a splash (in as much as the Raptor resources and situation would allow him).

Thats pretty close to what they have now I think. Isn't Masai already president of Basketball operations with Jeff Weltman being the "AGM"

I mean it's not exactly a bad thing to be conservative. I doubt Masai would make a Dickey type mistake but my issue is he has pretty much kept BC's core when we all know there's a very low ceiling there. Basically the only change he has done to the core is replace Gay with Carroll which although he is a good player, barely moves the needle in terms of the ceiling of this team.

When he came in, he said they weren't going to be in no man's land but that's exactly where they are 3 years later, which is probably the worst place to be in the nba.

I didn't realize until now that Lowry was acquired by BC. You're right that Ujiri's best moves seem to have been addition by substraction (Gay, Bargnagni) moves.

All his trades have been good so far because they're all low risk, it's the moves he doesn't make that's the problem. But who knows, maybe he has a master plan that will all make sense in a couple years.

Interesting that 80% of Kyle Lowry's shots this year are at the rim or 3 point shots. Said he pays attention to analytics and believes in them. Now if only he could tell Demar to stop with these garbage mid range shots...

Problem is Demar sucks at 3 pt shooting. He can't just drive to the rim all day.

It's honestly very frustrating. Demar will play reasonable somewhat smart bball for portions of the game but when everything is on the line he reverts to his ********.

The only thing he is good at is driving to the rim and getting to the FT line. He's a pretty good passer too but those skills really don't make up for the terrible defense. 3 point shooting and most of all terrible shot selection.

the team forgets to pass, doesn't space the floor, whines about calls they don't get and force up bad shots. It's not all DD but he is a big part of it.
