Anyone know how they qualify next summer? All I see is that they have 1 more shot. But in 16 years of watching pro basketball I've never see a call like that.

 

Sucks because they had an outside shot at getting a medal with Thompson in Rio

At least he's a better coach than Leo Rautins. Still they need to get someone better. Just hire an american who cares if the coach is Canadian.

Jays have it right when it comes to Canadian players. If they happen to be Canadian great but they are looking for the best players. Raps seem to want to sign Canadian players at all costs and let it factor into their decision.

This is the first time I've seen so many Canadians on the Raptors. One of them (Joseph) is a useful role player, the other was a first overall pick who's still young.

Pretty sure everyone understood that a 37 year old Steve Nash wasn't going to make a last place team a winner. All the talk was about how Nash would sell a lot of tickets/jerseys and make basketball more popular in Canada.

They offered the most money so it was more than the 3/28 he got from LA.

 

So it wasn't a ton of money or anything but I remember it being looked at as the first step onto a series of win-now ish moves. Then I'm sure the Gay trade still happens if Nash stays healthy. Nash-Demar-Gay-whoever-Val would've been viewed by Colangelo as a great starting lineup. It would've been hilarious, but I'm sure he would've thought it was on the right track, so I don't think he was going for Nash just cause Canadiana. Felt more like the fact that he was Canadian was what was giving us a chance at him, kinda like I'm sure we'll feel with Wiggins. But maybe it's just me.

obviously not... But he didn't take a discount to play in Toronto so you payed at least market value for a guy who isn't starting.
