Carroll can't create his own shot, he benefitted greatly from ATL's pass-happy scheme. If you're banking on him repeating that efficiency, or increasing his offensive output as an ISO option, you'll be sorely disappointed.

Him and Demar/Kyle should play off each other pretty well.

Really the Raps season comes down to Kyle Lowry and JV. Is Kyle Lowry the player he was in the first half or the 2nd half? Because the difference is a few wins. Also can JV take the next step. Everyone else is pretty much who they are..

No one's expecting him to improve offensively, but he's solid on that end of the floor and doesnt require high usage to get involved. He's not close to a star player but I'll take him over guys like DeRozan and Tobias Harris every time.

Carroll just seems like a very genuine guy as well and someone you want to root for. I dont think I could stomach someone like Jr Smith on this team

I'd rather have some ******* who can play good basketball than some nice, sympathetic guy who was okay at it.

Thank god he's not an ISO option, what good did ISO specialists Lou Williams and Grevais Trashquez do for us in the playoffs? Plus, they brought him in mainly for his defense, and his skills on offense (3s and finishing at the rim) are good anywhere.

Meh I'll disagree but most people will share your opinion.

He'll space out defenders, stopping them from cheating on someone who can't shoot to cut off Demar on his way to the rim. Maybe it'll make Demar look just good enough to trade him.

If he walks for nothing I'm good with that. I don't actually think he has much value. Even a GM who looks at FG% knows he's not very good. There might be 3-4 teams who don't look at FG%.

Meh I think you can get something for Demar now. No one's going to give up anything much for a 3 month rental, and if he is playing over his head, then he might end up getting re-signed which would suck ass.

Larry Bird "Paul George is going to play a lot of PF"

Paul George "No thanks"

Larry bird "He doesn't make the decisions around here"

Joseph underpaid, Carroll overpaid. But that doesn't consider the Raptors' position on the win curve so it's probably worth it

How does that make it worth it? The raptors were a treadmill team before and they still are now, their position hasn't changed. I was initially on board with it thinking there was still a shoe to drop with Derozan but that hasn't happened.

I think you overestimate Derozan's value across the league. GMs aren't all stupid.

They're going to be market level or better next year

If Reggie Jackson at 5/80 is market level next year then that proves Demar still has value, and yes I am taking into the fact that 5/80 is basically 5/50 under the old cap.

Scrubs regularly go off in summer league.

His profile fits the NBA though, could be a useful role player going forward. Solid defender with a huge wingspan, really good athleticism. If he can pair that with a jumpshot we may have something here.

Obviously not expecting a stud, but something useful in the 2nd round is a big win.

That jumpshot is a big if.

For sure. He is a project but not one that is terribly far away, can contribute a little bit this season

Posted
So he's basically the PG version of James Johnson without the elite footwork around the basket.

So he'll never get on the floor.

I can't express enough how much I love Powell's defense. Showing the ability to guard 1 through 3, moves his feet so well + 6'11 wingspan. Good combo

In case anyone was getting false hope about JV playing more in the 4th quarters, don't:

Casey: At the end of games, the trend is to go smaller. Threes are fours, fours are fives, and your roster has to fit that. Adding DeMarre gives us that flexibility. He can play some at the four, with Scola or Patrick Patterson at the five. We're better equipped to play that way now than we were a year ago.

The league is going to their more skilled guys toward the end of games. Trends come and go, but right now, we have to participate in that trend.
