Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 Nice run to start the game.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 The Raps might have learned from having to work so hard on Friday to come back. They look incredible right now.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 The Raps might have learned from having to work so hard on Friday to come back. They look incredible right now. Arguably the best 2nd unit in the NBA?
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 Arguably the best 2nd unit in the NBA? I'd think it would have to be pretty close, which is fortunate because we don't really have that truly elite guy in the starting rotation (although I guess Kyle is close).
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 Well, it WAS a nice start.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Funny how everyone was freaking out about Lowry after the first 5 games. He's as good as he's always been if not better. Hopefully it can carry over to the playoffs.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Toronto fans. We've had so many years of horrible teams that it's still engrained in us to expect things to always go off the rails and not work out for us.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Powell might be one of the worst guys I've ever seen at completing layups in the NBA. He really, really needs to work on that.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Fugly shooting by both teams.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Casey was terrible this game. Not having JV in on that FT attempt was just lazy incompetence. His rotations this game were also pretty bad.

jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Alex len gonna make shaqtin a fool lol. What a bone head play
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Man, there is one really, really heavy dude sitting in the first row on the side the Raptors are shooting at right now (3rd quarter).
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Starters this game: +30, bench: -10
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Starters this game: +30, bench: -10 Can't be world beaters every night. They've been in a rough stretch lately though
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 Well, that turned around in a hurry.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 Well, that turned around in a hurry. No kidding, completely different team after halfway through the third. The defense was outstanding, and multiple stops eventually lead to offense. Demar was great, career high 45 going 6/9 from 3.

Not that he needs to score 45 points a night, but if he could actually be a consistent 3 point threat it would do wonders for his game. Hell.... 35% would be fine, he doesn't need to be a 40-45% sharpshooter

He still takes them just outside the paint)15-17 range but he's pretty money from there.Career high near 50% FG, 5 assist a game while keeping the TO's down. With looking at their schedule the Raptors should be in 1st in about 2 weeks
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 Time for some DeRozan haters (including me) to eat crow. The Raps are a joy to watch. Can't believe all this talent. Overflowing.

Laika Community Moderator Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 This has happened before though. I'd hold off on that crow sandwich until the playoffs. Has it? Like this? When?
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 This has happened before though. I'd hold off on that crow sandwich until the playoffs. He's never been this good. Ts% at .587, that's Dwayne Wade at his best. His usage is significantly down and assist totals up so he's doing more in less time holding on to the ball
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 This has happened before though. I'd hold off on that crow sandwich until the playoffs. Both Derozan and the Raptors are playing at a level that we have not seen before. Could they regress? Sure, but right now this kind of performance is unparalleled in their respective histories. Demar is more efficient than ever, he's not shy about the occasional three, and he's a very willing passer. The team on the other hand, like NJH points out, has talent all over. The second unit might have the best defense in the NBA, and they absolutely ADORE ball movement, even if for the most part they're not offensively polished enough to make shots. Obviously this means s*** if we get to the playoffs and we get demolished by LeBron and co. again, but at the very least this looks like a noticeably better team, hopefully they won't disappoint. Basketball in Toronto is really fun at the moment.

With looking at their schedule the Raptors should be in 1st in about 2 weeks You're correct about the long 2's thing. Statistically, in his career he's taken about 31% of his shots from 16+ feet to below the 3 point line, this season that's down to 18.5% - he's also been better at making them, fwiw. He's turned a lot of those into 10-16 foot jumpers, which he's making 50% of the time. Every single spot on the court he's making shots at a higher rate than his career, and for some of them they're easily new bests.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 Wasn't Derosan drawing prime Michael Jordan comparisons just last year? How has everyone forgotten?
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 Derozan wrecking s*** again. Derozan basically turned into DWade. The guy has been a menace. Derozan's numbers are crazy. Averaging 34 PPG and only shooting 16% from 3(only made 2 Threes all year). Most insane thing is he's shotting 64% from 10-16 feet and 51% from 16 feet-3 point line. He's being really efficient taking the most inefficient shots you can take lol. Not sure how sustainable it is but its really fun. And some of you all wanted him gone? an 8th year player becoming michael Jordan over night. I think we've all said at some point that he's a very likeable guy. Good for him, the hardwork paid off I love that Derozan was pissed about his #46 rank from SI. It just motivated him... Bump
