Does JV have any trade value? I mean he's still young and has a very team friendly contract. Just curious as to what the Raps could get.

I doubt it. I'm hoping he comes off the bench this year like the Bucks used Monroe.

I wanted to retain PJ Tucker, but with him gone and Carroll being ass, we could see OG getting a lot of minutes which would be great. CoJo being in trade talks also means Wright should hopefully be the primary backup point guard, though there's a chance that Casey prefers FVV and that would just be a kick to the balls. By default Norm should also play a lot, I'm interested to see how they split the PT between Poeltl and Nogueira.

I don't think Tucker was all that special other than for his D obviously. Money could be better spent else where IMO.

I agree. I could care less about Tucker. To keep Tucker the Raps would have to jettison two players in a salary dump instead of just one to avoid the tax. Let's not set too high expectations. Ibaka and Lowry were worth the cap situation the Raptors are in. DeRozan not so much but it is what it is. Him being here is likely the reason Lowry re-signed.

Still, f***...you gotta think two years ago when the Raptors had cap space out the wazoo and 4 first round picks in the next two years that Masai could have been a little more creative than this.

Yeah. Maybe Caboclo will get more than garbage time. Isn't he at the end of his 2 years away from being 2 years away?

I think I'm just biased towards Tucker because he's what Carroll was supposed to be. I'm fine playing the young guys over both of them.

I don't even think OG will be ready to start camp will he? I doubt he gets much playing time, most rookies suck so not the worst thing for him to spend some time on the bench to learn the NBA game.

Pretty sure I'd rather have Patterson back at $16 than Ibaka at $65. OKC is stacked, might be the best team in the NBA outside of GS.

lol no

Did you forget they got George? Rockets are the only team I could see being better than them.

They have some star power but they lack depth, their bench is awful. Durant is way better than the current version of George and that team wasn't good enough to beat Golden State, and they could still lose Roberson. I think the Rockets and Spurs are easily better.

Bench really doesn't matter much come playoff time we've all seen it. A lineup with Russ, George, Adams and Pat(if he can regain his form) is among the best. They won't beat Golden State but no one can so that's why I said 2nd.

Weren't you the one suggesting Patterson was worth close to $70 million as a FA like last season?

As a bench option, that's a very decent contract at $5M AAV, considering what other players have been getting in the NBA this offseason. Would have been nice if he came back to the Raptors at that amount.

Patterson was never good enough to be a starting player. For a big guy, he's a bad rebounder and when he wasn't scoring he was pretty useless. As a 6th or 7th man, he isn't bad. Though giving him starters minutes would have been huge mistake.

Huh? He was the best defender on the team. He didn't get a good contract because he was terrible after he came back from injury but before that he was one of our best players.

Yeah before he was hurt I though I could see him getting $15M/year on 4-5 years. Obviously his market fell off a cliff but Patterson when he was healthy was a fantastic player. Was the team's best defender.

Harden for 57,000,000 for 4 years. Wowzers.

The $228million includes the $58million on his contract contract which has 2 years left. So for a four year extension he'll be getting an extra $170million - $42.5million AAV. Still crazy numbers!

Thanks. lol. Still nice coin.

Tim Hardaway jr just got 71 million from the Knicks for 4 years.

Uh......

Why????

The 2 best things about this deal is that they drafted him originally and ended up trading him for Jerian Grant. And even better - this free agent contract includes a 15% premium that would have to be paid if he is traded again, making him basically untradeable.

Can only assume they have a bet with the Nets as to who can be the worst run New York sports franchise.

They didn't need the premium to make the contract untradable.

Haha that's what makes it even better!

Apparently the Hawks were thinking they'd go up to $45m.

We paid through the ass, but Carroll is gone.

Ugh. What a brutal deal to have to do...

Seems like a lot to give up for only 2 years on the contract. MLSE ain't wanting to pay that luxury tax.

I keep hearing this. We gave up a lot. But really, have you ever gone back and looked at the NBA draft history? 20+ picks, 9 times out of 10 you get a complete chump.
