burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 What does the Raps cap situation look like heading into this off-season. Does anyone think they'll be big players? With the cap going up almost every team has the cap space to afford a MAX player. I think they will target the big time FA, whether they actually are able to convince one to sign is another story.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Woj Bomb. T ross 3 years 33 million. Seems like an overpayment
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 I know the cap is going up a lot blah blah blah but Ross is terrible.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 I know the cap is going up a lot blah blah blah but Ross is terrible. Yeah thats my take as well. He still can't dribble the ball. Although I'll take Ross at that contract if it means Derozan is gone.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 I wouldn't be surprised if they gave Derozan a max contract now. Masai has me shook.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 holy f*** is that ever a stupid contract welcome to the treadmill, boys
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Ross' effort level has been off the charts this year. He clearly duped them into this. He's the laziest player on the team. This is a joke.
mitchf Verified Member Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Ross has been the worst player in the first round of the playoffs for two consecutive years. He's mentally unstable on the court. I wouldn't have given him a contract at all, but whatever..
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Tying up all our salary cap on role players seems like a great way to have no chance at Durant in FA.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Pretty disappointed about the Ross extension at 3 years, $33 million. Wouldn't the Raptors be able to sign him to that same type of deal next summer even if he had a solid season off the bench? Unless Ross completely breaks out and becomes a 20 PPG player.

Doubt the Raps were going to get KD anyways, though I agree there is no point in tying up a lot of salary cap on role players when those types of guys can easily be attained every year.
Travis_Snider Verified Member Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 I like Ross and think he will be a very good player, He is a natural SG and has been forced to play mostly SF and not used properly by casey surprise surprise . He has one of the quickest first steps I have seen, 3pt % nearing 40 and still loads of potential. Shame hes not being used properly really.

We have about 60 mill tied up next year with Lowry, Carroll, Patterson, JV, and Ross all signed. We still have 29 mill in cap space for next year ( salary cap projected 89 million) and 2017 cap expected to jump 20 mill more to estimated 108 mill.
Laika Community Moderator Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 $1million for every air ball on his playoff resume?

He's already 24, being athletic doesn't mean he has loads of potential. And he was a 37% 3 pt shooter last year and in his career which isn't impressive when that's all he can do. His defense is also overrated.

I hope the Raps don't resign DeRozan to an extension, especially after handing out this recent extension to Ross.
Laika Community Moderator Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 They'll probably trade him. What a weird deadline for the NBA to have, a week into the season. Why not have this deadline a month or so ago? Or after the year?

His defense is also overrated. 24 is still quite young, 37% is almost top 50 in NBA, and his defense isn't great because he has matched up against SF's most of his career. I think he would be much better if used in proper situations, and with the salary cap continuing to rise dramatically its pretty smart move to extend him imo.

I do agree with you that he was being horribly misused. He's best as a 1st/2nd scoring option on the 2nd unit while playing the 2. He's too lean to guard proper 3's.

Anything can happen but usually by this age you know what type of player they are. Thing I hate about him is how bad his defense is. He's athletic but was one of the worst defenders I've seen last year. Constant blow by after blow by and dumb ass plays.

His lateral quicks on defense seem to be lacking significantly. It's just a lack of focus/laziness. He doesn't have enough desire to keep his guy in front of him.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Lmao, Scola is the biggest stat-padder ever. The guy jumps from the three point line to grab rebounds away from his own teammates.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Matthews might have a point on that call. Nice to see one go our way for once.

You know its gonna happen where he hits an uncontested rebound out of bounds because hes trying to get that extra board for himself. Hate how he takes long 2s as well.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Derozan is trash. Ball movement just dies when he touches it then jacks up an impossible shot.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 I see Ross still can't defend at all... That contract gonna be bad lol
