John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Yeah.... I'm all for trading Steve Novak and Landry Fields for a legit PF. .... Just like I'm in favor of trading Ricky Romero and Maicer Izturis for a legit number 2 starter. Contracts work a lot different in the NBA, making salaries work and whether contracts are expiring or not often supercedes talent being equal.
theblujay Verified Member Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Big game vs. the Heat tomorrow. Hopefully they keep in close and prove to be for real.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Contracts work a lot different in the NBA, making salaries work and whether contracts are expiring or not often supercedes talent being equal. Yeah but that doesn't mean you can trade two net negatives for a good pf.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Yeah but that doesn't mean you can trade two net negatives for a good pf. Of course not, my quote didn't specifically say only trading those two, just using 1 or both as part of the deal. They'd obviously have to give up something with value as well.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Yeah, no point in giving up an asset for a PF when they already have good depth at that position, unless it's for a star like Kevin Love.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Lowry is playing unbelievably well this game. His playmaking is brilliant.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Great effort even in the loss tonight, they were right there in the final 30 seconds against Miami.
Caper Verified Member Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 It was a great effort. Kinda came down to an off day of foul shooting.
theblujay Verified Member Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Great game to watch. A loss to the Heat in Miami is nothing to get mad about. They have one more tough game before a much easier stretch of the schedule. Hopefully they respond well against the Pacers.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Another great game by the guys. I really want to see what this team can do in the playoffs with another impact wing to pair with DeRozan and Ross. I have such mixed feelings about Casey at this point though. The team seems to respond to him and has bought into his system, but he can't run a functional offense in crunch time which is going to kill them come playoff time. There were way to many DeRozan's Iso's in the 4th quarter. Either use pindowns and ball screens for him or run the offense through Lowry exclusively. Demar's ball handling leaves a lot to be desired.
Caper Verified Member Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 I feel the raps are going to take this. They aren't as good as Indy on D... But have a much better offense right now.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Adam Lind sighting at the Raps game tonight, has a terrible beard and looked really chunky
GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Adam Lind sighting at the Raps game tonight, has a terrible beard and looked really chunky What else is new? lol
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Welp... another win for the treadmill. Yay!
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Welp... another win for the treadmill. Yay! 2nd half was good but the first half, they were settling for way too many jump shots.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Adam Lind sighting at the Raps game tonight, has a terrible beard and looked really chunky He did his 20 push-ups today before lunch, leave him alone!
theblujay Verified Member Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 ESPN has the Raps with a 100% of making the playoffs and a 0% of winning the lottery. Also the 6th best chance to win the champ, lol.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 As the Raptors begin their rebranding, what colours would you like to see? Personally I'd like to keep the red .. http://www.sportsnet.ca/basketball/nba/ovo-reveals-drake-night-t-shirts/
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 (edited) That being said I'd rather the blue and white and changing the name to the huskies over that black and gold Edited January 10, 2014 by Dylan
theblujay Verified Member Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 I like the idea of blue and white to match the Jays and Leafs. I don't mind keeping the red and white as long as they change up the logo and the pattern. I actually kind of like the black and gold, but they would have to do it right.
Caper Verified Member Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 A lot of winnable games coming up. Bucks Celtics Timberwolves Lakers Bobcats Mavericks 76ers Clippers Nets 7 out of the next 9 looks possible.
theblujay Verified Member Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 A lot of winnable games coming up. Bucks Celtics Timberwolves Lakers Bobcats Mavericks 76ers Clippers Nets 7 out of the next 9 looks possible. They better beat the Bucks, Celts and sixers. Should beat the Lakers and Nets. Good chance vs. Bobcats and Twolves. Tough games vs Clips and Mavs. For some reason we can't beat the bobcats
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Team is winning games it should. Saw some articles lately w Lowry being an early season top 10 MVP candidate. Gotta re-sign this guy now pretty much.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 One thing I've noticed, in previous years and even earlier this year, as soon as the team went down by 10, you could just them shut down, no push back. Now, they get down 10, they push back, tighten up the D and get back in the game.

Gotta re-sign this guy now pretty much. Well he's going to make the all star team and has emerged as a legit 2 tier pg in the league. Resigning him in the off season is a must.

Tough games vs Clips and Mavs. For some reason we can't beat the bobcats I can see us grabbing the third seed and getting trolled by a bad bobcats team in the first round. Id probably rather face the Hawks with a healthy Hortford ( even know he aint coming back) than face that team.

Now, they get down 10, they push back, tighten up the D and get back in the game. What I have noticed... The raps would always make a push. They'd be down by 10 maybe come within 2.... maybe tie it up or go up by a couple... But then the other team would just, like clock work, put the pedal down and roll right over the raps.... In the last month or so, I see raps doing that to other teams.
theblujay Verified Member Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 I can't believe we almost traded Lowry to the Knicks for that garbage package
