What AA told Arencibia prior to the season, and that too prior to the Dickey trade, is almost completely irrelevant now. Romero was our guy in the offseason too, while Happ would start in the minors. Instead, Happ was extended and Romero never even made the opening day roster. If people are looking to complain about Arencibia being the "catcher of the future" you're really just trying way too hard to find something to complain about. There's no reason to think that this organization (still) sees Arencibia as a franchise cornerstone.

Thanks. I was able to pull up a link with that information - http://toronto.bluejays.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20121221&content_id=40774654&vkey=news_tor&c_id=tor

It appears as if Anthopoulos in conjunction with his staff have seen something worthwhile there.

actually the internal word is "we're good with a .270 OBP catcher as long as he works hard at his defense". The fact that they "see" something in him is the most concerning thing about the org.

Well at least it appears as if they (Anthopoulos and his staff) think Arencibia has the potential to get better at "D" which is huge cuz his position is mostly about defence and game calling. I initially felt Arencibia had some room to grow with his D however I was only making an assumption since I did not have in-depth reports from those closer to him to work with. Anyway, it's their job at stake so If Arencibia cannot make gains in those areas then he is a lost cause so I guess we will see where the chips eventually fall.

Considering that people said the same kind of things about EE, Lind, Bautista (to some degree), etc lead me to give them some slack on JPA. I'd still love to get Ruiz or McCann in the off-season, but barring either of those two I think I'd almost rather stick with JPA - at least until we can either say for certain whether CM can or can't fix the bat and plate approach.

I know it's really early but this would be my plan from now through the off-season if I were AA. Sign Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez, sign McCann/Ruiz, move Jimenez (opens up the 40man spot for Nessy as TheHurl said and he is really the only positional prospect the Jays could move for something of value) in a package for a 2B or another SP, offer JJ a QO and see what happens.

It's just a little different with jp because his whole offense and defense game needs to be revamped. He's going into his arb years now so i don't think the jays can afford to keep him around and hope he turns it around.

Ruiz !!!! , Suzuki as the back up but I would accept Suzuki/Molina .

Thing is , AA has to take blame here .JPA should have been sent down and anyone brought in . Did not matter as we were long out of it . The pitching staff deserved better

This guy is as delusional as it gets. How can anybody be that stupid? The arrogance from a guy who would have probably added a couple wins for his team by going on the DL is just incredible. Now he's blaming his knee for his bad season. If your knee is making your play worse, don't be a hero and go on the f***ing DL. Especially when you are a player of Arencibia's calibre.

How can this guy have such a huge ego?

Just once I want to hear him drop the victim complex and come out and say that he understands why the fans are upset; that his performance has been unacceptable and damaging to the team.

No worries the org is simply being politically correct and JPA will be released ( whether its in a trade or outright ) in the off season. He got his

chance this year to show what he can do and it wasn't a good season. Gibbons needs to go too. I think JPA and Josh Johnson likely need a change of

scenery to have any chance of performing well next season.

It's funny, a pitcher has the smallest ache in their arm and they're on the DL for 2 months. Our position players can barely walk and they're allowed to try and play through it...

I mean, this really grinds my f***ing gears. He's in the midst of a -0.5 fWAR season, has managed 1 fWAR over 372 career games, is god only knows how far below replacement-level with framing considered, and is still telling the media that people who criticize him never played baseball and thus don't know what they're talking about. The amount of unwarranted arrogance here is appalling.

There are people that are telling him that what he's doing is okay...so of course he's going to have these f***ed up stupid thoughts. The away splits are still insane how bad they are... .147/.188/.261. That's 229 Plate appearances of an 18 wRC ball. Jays are middle of the pack in runs scored on the road, put me in there and they score 313 at least.

Or maybe JP and other position players really are healthy and the organization encourages them to play through minor injuries so as to have an excuse when the inevitable poor performance continues.

Melky wasn't healthy, Edwin has had issues on and off all year, last year Escobar and Johnson could barely jog for half the season. They really weren't healthy. I dunno about JPA.

So what will you guys think if JPA is still here at the start of next season?

Honestly this is subjective but I think the odds of that happening are about 100:1. .236 OBP with awful defense... even if he hits 40 HR that's still a terrible player IMO.

Man, Sportsnet and Zaun just piling on at this point, I'm almost starting to feel bad for Doucheibia.

You just KNOW that it's 99% due to his AVG looking to be falling under .200 for the season, the headline stat that the casuals notice. Although, that list that Zaun narrated was painful to see.........last, last, 2nd to last, last, last, last. Ouch. f***ing OUCH.

Ah well. He's still a young handsome millionaire. Not going to feel sorry for the guy, even at his lowest he's still winning at life more than 99.99% of us.

The thing is, JPA just needs to accept that he's really bad at this point, and go out and work hard to fix his issues rather than complaining about all the negativity. He really DOES seem to have the talent to do it if he wants to.

Can this guy just shut up already. Holy crap what a moron. I think I should switch gears to a "Please shut JP up" campaign I think we could get up to six figures. lol
