If I expected a flag I wouldn't be complaining. As much.

Osuna? Sure, if we can get an extension for him. Garza is a damn good pitcher who was dominating in the AL East

3 years of 4.24 FIP (and worse xFIPs) is dominating? Hell, his 3.78 ERA with the Rays isn't particularly dominant either.

Pictures of the GM in a bra and panties with a male prostitute? ;)

hahaha might have to throw in a JPA bobble head , call it even :)

The fact that we're even having this conversation is a testament to how f***ing stupid it was to go all-in this year. Look at the investment in pitching (and Reyes) over the last 11 months:

Out:

Noah Syndergaard

Travis d'Arnaud

Asher Wojciechowski

Kevin Comer

Joe Musgrove

Carlos Perez

Henderson Alvarez

Jake Marisnick

Justin Nicolino

Anthony DeSclafani

Wuilmer Becerra

In:

RA Dickey (age 38-40) for $30 million

Josh Johnson (age 29) for $13.75 million

Mark Buehrle (age 34-46) for $48 million

JA Happ (age 30-32) for $15.6 million

We've paid sticker price in terms or dollars AND gutted the farm for a full rotation of 30+ pitchers... and we still need more. This is exactly how you don't build a team.

Amen to that. These moves will set us back for years. AA could have done much more with $130 million in payroll if he didn't have so much fat deposits saturating in his fat head.

Seriously, not one but two elite prospects for a 38 year old? I can't even begin..

Pointing out that he's 38 really doesn't mean much. He is a knuckleballer and it is generally thought that his prime has at least 5 more years to it. His just win the Cy and is coming off a complete game shutout. I just don't know here. I mean if you're really supposed to assume that a knuckleballer hits his prime 5-7 years later than a conventional pitcher and also assume that his career lasts 5-7 years longer, isn't Dickey just 28 or 29 in pitcher years?

The knuckleball/no UCL thing just affects his arm, though, he's a human just like the rest of us and he's showing his age, he's having back problems. He's not immune from those.

The trade ain't going to be undone by complaining about it. Is it painful to watch Syndergaard CONTINUE to dominate? Of course it is and it will be worse once D'Arnaud is healthy and JPA continues to stink not to mention the "throw in" suspect who could develop into a top prospect in a couple of years.

I hated the trade. I could live with the Marlins trade because you got 2 starters and a very good position player and the team's rotation was in shambles even with the high salaries.

Anyway...

I should start throwing a knuckleball in my spare time so I can feel like a teenager again.

80+ MPH only, obviously.

Cliff Lee and his 21-team no trade contract that includes Detroit, Boston and TORONTO is not a choice. The Jays have Romero improving, Stroman and Nolin maturing, Jenkins struggling, Drabek set to relieve all year as he rehabs from his second TJ Surgery and Hutchison perhaps returning by late August... Perhaps. With Morrow likely out until mid-late August, if not out for the season, Happ not even throwing off a mound yet and Rogers running out of innings, the club NEEDS another starter...

I couldn't vote cause I'm not buying . I'm selling . JJ , Oliver , Davis etc

I'd go after garza, and do it now before he strings another bunch of good starts together and drives up his value

Garza for Aaron Sanchez?

Garza for Aaron Sanchez?

The Cubs aren't in any position to demand an elite level prospect for Garza in trade. They could ask for a couple of B's maximum, more likely B and a C.

I don't thinks so. The new wild card spot has ruined everything, now there are more teams trying to buy, so the sales value increases..

Padres, LAD, DBacks, Rockies, Giants, Nats, Rangers, Angels, Indians, O's, Red Sox, Yanks and Blue jays all buyers right now.

Prepare to part with Sanchez or Osuna.

Cubs want a bundle for Garza . More than what a supplimental pick would bring in a strong draft class . Yes Sanchez or Osuna + . This team is so inconsistant that rental deals are nuts .

Cubs are mulling over signing him long term and are definitely giving him a qualifying offer if they don't get their asking price .

I think AA would need to hire kevin costner to protect him if he did that

IF AA trades Aron Sanchez or Osuna for a rental I will be pissed and call for his head

Posted
I don't think AA will trade any top prospects, especially for a rental. I really think they overpaid in the offseason in trades because they were under pressure to NOT strike out in acquiring players like in previous offseasons...then again, I've been wrong before :P

Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos watched Cuban right-hander Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez pitch on Friday in Tijuana, Bob Elliott of the Toronto Sun reports (Twitter link). The Jays made a high-profile signing out of Cuba three years ago when they signed shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria to a four-year, $10MM contract.

I did report this Friday here and on Twitter btw.

How far from MLB would this guy be? If he has a chance to join the starting rotation next year, that would be great.

It's been speculated that he is MLB ready and should only need a month or so in the minors.

Or less. He's being billed as Darvish ready and it's been said that a max of 2-3 minor league starts and then a call up will be a commitment he's looking for when signing.

Bowden talked about him today on Inside Pitch . Said some scouts he respects told him the guy can pitch in the majors now . So can Wang and a lot of others .

Yeah get him I say. Replace JJ in July and get a compensatory draft pick.

What's the rumored amount?
