admin Site Manager Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 I closed the other thread so it stays clean. This thread is for discussion of the list. Post any questions you may have as well. This list contains the prospect ranking based on 38 forum members submissions. The columns beside their names show how many votes of the total votes for that rank they received. The last column is their average score based out of 66. If a prospect is ranked #1, he receives a score of 66. If a prospect is ranked #2 he receives a 65, and so on. Here it is:

Rank Name 1 2 3 flafson Verified Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 It amazes me that Pillar who was selected in the 32nd round and probably got close to nothing as a signing bonus is rated higher than someone like Stilson who was picked in the 3rd round and got i think 500k is rated higher. Both were in the 2011 draft.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 I would love to know who had Osuna 4th and Sanchez 3rd haha. May I post my top 30?
bzapple Verified Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Eight of the top ten are pitchers...god damn this organization lol. Great job on the list though guys, and thanks to admin for putting it all together.
admin Site Manager Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 Anyone can post their lists now. I don't have any usernames of who voted what. I dont' think there is anything wrong with Sanchez at #3 or Osuna at #4 either. I dont' think he's miles ahead of anyone. It all depends how you rank a prospect. I personally put Osuna #1. It's still early, and SSS (plus got killed today), but Osuna's numbers in A ball this year are much better than Sanchez' were last year, and he's two years younger in that league. Although he didn't get any #1 votes, one could put an argument that Stroman is our #1. Outside one bad outing, he's absoluting dominating AA. So depending on how you rank prospects, Sanchez could fall to #3. Though, to go against my point, Sanchez has been pretty damn filthy himself.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 1.) Aaron Sanchez 2.) Robrto Osuna 3.) Marcus Stroman 4.) Phil Bickford 5.) AJ Jimenez 6.) Daniel Norris 7.) Matt Smoral 8.) DJ Davis 9.) GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 GD, half those guys are even prospects lol My list 1-40 is pretty strong but it does admittedly drop off after 40. Kalfus is a stud though
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 I bet I can guess the number 5 vote for Pillar. Hiiiii Greenwood!
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Laughing my ass off. Thanks to whoever did this It wasn't me, I swear. Obviously one was bluejaysfan, I wonder who the other was. Smells of Caper, but could be Greenwood.
imsorry4beatinU Verified Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Andres De Aza getting 3 top 10 votes? haha really?
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Lugo outside the top 20... That's pretty shocking
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Andres De Aza getting 3 top 10 votes? haha really? Holy wow, I didn't even notice this. That's either really aggressive or downright stupid.
admin Site Manager Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 Holy wow, I didn't even notice this. That's either really aggressive or downright stupid. You don't even have him in your top 70 lol.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 You don't even have him in your top 70 lol. Top 50, lol. Don't like the kid but I get why some think he's top 50/30 whatever... but TOP 10? W.T.F.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Top 10 seems crazy... but what makes you not like him? I don't think anyone really knows much (anything?) about him yet. Mainly the 109 PA last year. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=deaza-000and I could be wrong, the kid could be a f***ing stud lol, but it's the best I have to go off of and I don't like him much based off it. But if I don't know much about a kid, and what I do know is negative, I ain't gonna rank him high.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 That's a really small sample of a 17-year-old in the Dominican Summer League. I don't think it means anything, it's really all about tools at his level of development. I'm roughly the same age lol. It probably doesn't mean s***, but I don't know enough about the kid to justify to myself ranking him. I'm probably wrong on the kid. Wait, you're 17? Holy f***. I thought you were like mid 20's lol.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Nah, last year the kid was 17. Regardless, I thought you were older lol. You're closer to Fatcow then, which I definitely didn't expect.
imsorry4beatinU Verified Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Admin, it should have been done like what Grant did last year. A couple of people did the poll just for jokes and wasn't serious at all. De Aza, Barnes and Hawkins got top 10 picks lol
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Admin, it should have been done like what Grant did last year. A couple of people did the poll just for jokes and wasn't serious at all. De Aza, Barnes and Hawkins got top 10 picks lol Barnes is at least semi-defensible statistically. Almost. Kinda lol. Hawkins SHOULD be top 10 by now... damn bust
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 4-AJ Jimenez (Bandwagon) 8-Phil Bickford (No pro) 12-Adonys Cardona (Thrower) 18-Clinton Hollon (No pro) 22-Mitch Nay (top-15) 24-Dawel Lugo (top-20) 27-Andres De Aza (Who? Why?) 30-Chris Hawkins (Bust) Is this Jonathan Mayo list or this forum suck?
admin Site Manager Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 Admin, it should have been done like what Grant did last year. A couple of people did the poll just for jokes and wasn't serious at all. De Aza, Barnes and Hawkins got top 10 picks lol It wouldn't have been much different. The first prospect list we did, Kirksaw had Comer at #6, Anderson at #10, I'm sure people would have said that was a joke too if it was anonymous. Two guy shad Knecht in their top 10 while others had him in the 20s.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Wow......you're that young? Jesus man....I thought you were in your mid twenties for some reason. Now the team posting makes sense, lol. Very mature for your age. He still has no pubic hair....Damn teenagers
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Just a thought, De Aza was 5th on the list and Hawkins was 10th. IMO it seems likely that the votes for these two in the top 10 were due to ranking mistakes or incomplete polls.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 lol......that's your opinion, but 3 of those guys weren't on my list and I had Jimenez ranked third so kiss my ass, Bickford and Hollon can easy be placed in our top 30 Bickford and Hollon aren't Jays players; Hawkins is a Bust
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 We were asked to rank them as if they had already signed
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 What? Everyone is aware of this, they will be removed if they don't sign. OK, then put Beede in the top of my list please.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Beede's rights aren't controlled by the Jays anymore, how is that remotely the same thing?
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Beede's rights aren't controlled by the Jays anymore, how is that remotely the same thing? He's Dominican, not as smart as Cubans.

Sarcasm. The point is..........Bickford and Hollon don't belong to the Jays organization, they aren't supposed to being in that list.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 They're just there so that we can do the list now without voting again after the signing period. If they don't sign admin will drop them and it is a lot less work for him.
