Today he has 217 plate appearances and is a non qualifier for statistical leader boards. His cutoff is 120.1 plate appearances (3.1/team game). By Sunday or Monday he will be top 5 in the league for batting average and his name will appear for OBP, etc.

"Everyone" did not include me. My mancrush on Lind has never taken so much as a second off!

If it makes the team better I would still consider it. However chances are if we trade Lind the value we get back will have less impact on the team than Lind is currently having.

Best case for us trading Lind to somewhere that needs him is to Pittsburgh so that they can move Jones to RF, but they don't have ANYONE behind Walker. I can't think of anyone else in contention that needs him.

The club is .500 and on the move. Lind is a key piece and has several team friendly options. He's not going anywhere this year!

Seriously though, I do agree, for Kawasaki to stay he would need to be able to play a competent 2B. Not sure what his experience is there.

Lind has found his 2009 form thanks to Mottola. With Cito and Murphy out of his face, I don't see why he can't continue to be a consistent hitter. Don't forget Lind also flourished in the minors under Mottola also, so the ss is relevant. He isn't going anywhere.

I would think the player that could play SS but not 2B would be the exception rather than the rule. The two positions are very similar.

That's true but how long did it take Boni (who played 2B before) to not make errors? You could lose quite a few games just on that position.

He's not better than Bonifacio/Izzy/Kawa at 2nd.

Remember though, Boni played mostly OF last year if I'm not mistaken so the transition was far different. Kawasaki is a SS, the hardest position to play on the IF, so it'll be mainly the throw to 1st and the turning of the DP. NL infielders have also struggled with the turf it seems, so there might be something to the adjustment to the turf suggestion.

I think most think he's ok in the outfield. He has been more then passable at 2nd during June.... Just awful in April.
