Metallijay Verified Member Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 The jays have really struggled against the Al east. Now that they have played themselves back into position to be withing striking distance of meaningful ball games later in the season, now is the time to make some noise against the division. We got Dickey for games like this one tomorrow, it's time for him to step up and be the ace we need. We have to win the next 2 series IMO, they gave themselves almost no room for error with that terrible april. That terrible start is going to haunt this team all year.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Not feeling too good about this series, and I'm gonna go to the Sat game. Can't stop the double whammy of Manny Davis.
Figgy1R22R Verified Member Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 I really don't feel good about this series either.. Something about the Baltimore O that strikes fear into me.
Metallijay Verified Member Posted June 20, 2013 Author Posted June 20, 2013 I have to admit, I also am worried about this series. Dickey inspires no confidence. Johnson is the one guy I expect to pitch very well. Hope I am wrong though as baseball is an unpredictable sport and this team has surprised the last 2 weeks.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 I'm don't see series any different then the previous 2, reason being is that our offence right now has been for the most part dangerous and we are not going to see anything special in terms of pitching from theses guys. If we can hold them to 3-4 runs I don't see any reason why we can't beat them. Colorado has probably a more complete lineup then the O's and we held them off the scoreboard for the most part. If we can dance around Davis then I say we win.
Wilnercibia Verified Member Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Orioles have feasted off Dickey, his Knuckler better be working
SAAviour Verified Member Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 If we come out of the next 10 games 6-4 and 1 game over .500 I'll be extremely happy. I to have a bad feeling about Baltimore though. Too many players that light our pitching up consistently.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Geez guys, let's have a little confidence here. Jays are hot and we get them at home. Also, I like our pitchers better in 2 out of the 3 matchups. I'm confident we take 2 of 3.
KSaw Verified Member Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 I had them going 13-8 to finish off June to get back in it and they've gone 8-2 with a rain out so far. 6-4 from here on would be just great.

JaysJays07 Verified Member Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 1st post on new forum, seems like no more Trolls, But I am going to the game tomorrow, so i hope they will win even though i am bad luck. 1-5 this year at games.... This is the biggest test this year by far, a chance to get right back in it with a sweep. Can u Imagine if we sweep this series, we will be less then 3 games back in the WC standings!
KSaw Verified Member Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Have to win 7 of next 10 somehow. Have to? Why? 6-4 would be just fine. Hitting the ASB even 2 games over .500 would be good. They start a 10-game home stand out of the break with 4 v Houston. Things are starting to look good. Every game isn't life and death. Just a reminder, the 1989 Jays that climbed out of a 12-24 hole to reach .500 at 36-36 and go on to win the division did drop 4 straight to drop to 36-40 after reaching .500.

Agree, 6-4 would be fine, definitely don't want to be any worse then that at home. Got to protect home turf against division rivals......After the break we haev a chance to really move up again with houston coming and 10 at home. Reyes will be back then as well. Hoping for 7-0 and a 15 game win streak LOL.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 I don't know the offense still seems to be all or nothing at times to me. The thing is Baltimore's starting pitching has been no better then ours. Our Bullpen has just been outstanding to say the least which is way more then I can say about the O's whose have been shaky a lot this season. I am just saying going into this series it is not as lopsided as it was a month ago with a tired pen and completely lost pitchers.
SAAviour Verified Member Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 We could use joeybats to go on a tear and carry the team for the next week.
KSaw Verified Member Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 That would be a bonus. Just get this club to 56-58 wins by the end of July and look out!
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 We could use joeybats to go on a tear and carry the team for the next week. Yes. And he is due for a tear.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 We could use joeybats to go on a tear and carry the team for the next week. Also could use JPA to go on one of his 1week hot streaks where he hits 5 homeruns then sucks again.
KSaw Verified Member Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Bite your tongue. I'd rather see Thole have a huge game with Dickey on the mound, almost forcing Gibby into giving him another start.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Ideally Davis never comes to the plate with anyone on base. If we have several runs lead, pitch to him. Otherwise, intentionally walk him. If he goes 0-0 for the series with 12 walks, so be it.
CorpseofFrankFrancisco Verified Member Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 This series reeks of massive letdown in typical Blue Jays 2013 fashion. I mean, sweet Christ, I hope I am wrong, but I still don't trust this team. My Prediction is that if Dickey sets the tone in the first game (7 innings, 3 earned) then we take 2 of 3, but if he stumbles out of the gate, we'll lose 2 of 3.

I have basically come to grips that we are not going to get much offensive output from the catcher position so lets just hope for the best lol.
Metallijay Verified Member Posted June 20, 2013 Author Posted June 20, 2013 We could use joeybats to go on a tear and carry the team for the next week. It is time for our so called LEADER to start leading, he has been almost non existent for awhile now.
JohnnyLonghorn Verified Member Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Davis always hits well at the RC. With the way he's hitting right now I'm all for pitching around him or even intentionally walking him. This O's lineup has been scoring tons of runs this year. Their top six is as solid as anyones - McClouth, Markakis, Jones, Davis, Machado and Hardy have all been exceeding their career means, and you gotta expect them to come down to earth a bit. They do lack the starting pitching depth of the other AL East teams, so I think its fair to say that their current pace is unsustainable.
Metallijay Verified Member Posted June 20, 2013 Author Posted June 20, 2013 The Jays need to keep winning games one at a time, and not think about the next 10 or next month. If they get a good pitching performance, they can win. If the pitching can continue and keep Chris Davis without a homer, then they can sweep Baltimore. Baltimore is throwing out Hammel, Gonzalez, Garcia (or Britton). If we can score to those guys' capabilities, then we can sweep. And then Tampa is using Hernandez and Hellickson in the next series, that could be an easy 2/3. The Jays are good again guys, let's stop acting like they'd be lucky to tread water! They are better but they are not as good as they have shown the last 8.....somewhere in the middle (Cannot keep expecting wang and rogers to maintain this pace)....Until they can continue to make ground and beat al east opponents I will be caustious in my expectations. everytime this team has had a chance to really make noise so far this year they have usually faltered, except this streak.

Arkadium Verified Member Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Baltimore = 2nd worst pitching in MLB (ERA) and 2nd best offense (OPS)... either we need our pitchers to shut down their offense or our hitters to have a field day on their pitching.
DickeyJohnsonWang Verified Member Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 taking 2 of 3 would be sweet and put us at .500 much earlier than any had anticipated/hoped for. We need Dickey to pitch like an ace game 1. Then thanks to the dickey effect, Wang will have a strong start. Personally I'm just thrilled that we have Dickey Wang and Johnson for this series. Hopefully they go hard and tear the O's a new one!
