John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 I just wish they would shop their glut of BP arms. You're not winning this year, you have several arms in the pen that can be your closer and several contending teams that are in obvious need of pen help. I really hope AA doesn't value his pen arms so much that he won't sell when the selling is good.

We have the next John Smoltz in McGowan Janssen Delabar Oliver Santos McGowan Cecil Perez Wagner Stilson Carreno trade 2 o 3 arm right now.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 most posters are thinking lawrie having the ability to play both 2b and 3b gives AA the flexibility to find either a 2b or 3b actually with reyes able to play either SS or 2b, AA just needs to find a 3b, ss, or 2b to solidify the infield

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 you would think he will recognize 2b is less taxing on his body?

He's having a decent year with the bat and could be a short term solution after Ben Revere went down. This would free up boni to be used as he should. As a 4th OF, late game pinch runner type of player. We could probably get a meh prospect back. Better than nothing?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Here's where Gose's 2013 mILB suckage really bites us in the ass: - Phillies Looking For A Center Fielder By Edward Creech [July 14 at 5:00pm CST] Phillies center fielder Ben Revere told reporters, including MLB.com's Todd Zolecki, he will miss six-to-eight weeks after breaking a bone in his right ankle in the first game of yesterday's doubleheader against the White Sox. Revere is scheduled to visit a foot specialist tomorrow. "The prognosis doesn't sound too good," Phillies GM Ruben Amaro Jr. told reporters, including Bob Brookover of the Philadelphia Inquirer. "We'll see how long it's going to be. I think it's something that's going to take a while. If that's the case, we'll probably be looking for a center fielder if one is available or will be an upgrade on what we have with John (Mayberry) out there."

Go for it, send them Gose, I think Colby's won the war. Pillar can be next years 4th OF

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Michael Young Gose for Michael Young? no way Stilson maybe
SAAviour Verified Member Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 If AA buys anything for this yer I will hunt him down and murder him. SELL! SELL! SELL!
Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 AA likes trading with the White Sox too... I can totally see Sanchez+++ going to the White Sox in a week... AA just doesn't know when to quit
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Will never happen, but Dickey back to the NL could actually bring a nice haul
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Will never happen, but Dickey back to the NL could actually bring a nice haul I doubt it, after a poor season and certainly not getting any younger, no smart GM will overpay to get him. As things stand his value is not the same as it was last offseason, though the two previous good years shouldn't be ruled out if someone was considering acquiring him.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 I wouldn't move Dickey right now. Sure its quite possible he gets even worse next year, but given the fact that he is a KB pitcher and had 3 good years prior, I would take my chances and if he does well and this team again is out of it then look to deal him next deadline. He stands to make $12M next season which is still reasonable and worth the risk. Now if someone offers something significant then sure deal him, but right now his value must be quite low. I would definitely look to deal Buehrle and JJ though.
